My Grandfather saw a house burn with 2 men in it. Apparently they were overcome by smoke and weren`t able to get out. It was a cabin, really by our standards

They were big, fat men and Grandpa said they burned like candles.

I don’t think I would have liked your grandpa. His statement about the two large gentlemen being big and fat and burned like candles is really uncalled for in this article where a human life was lost. To be honest it makes me sick to my stomach! May the two gentlemen lost in that fire forever rest in peace.

Thank you Martin for calling out that callous comment. I don’t know why people say such things. My dad was a World War II vet. He and his friends saw some terrible stuff in the battles they fought and in villages nearby. They never spoke of it. Perhaps they did in private with others who had seen such stuff? Anyways they never spoke of the horrific images they had witnessed. And definitely not to innocent children! They were men.

Yes, Farce they were men and I am damn proud of each and every one of them for their sacrifices and service to our country. They had no need to speak of the terrible things that happened. It just brings back ungodly memories of what they witnessed. If I was you, I would be extremely proud of my dad.

Hmm…this doesn’t speak well for the responding deputies who were told the resident had called a neighbor and said his coat was on fire — the place burned to the ground, the resident wasn’t accounted for — somehow the deputies decided the remains that were found belonged to an animal — I’d say they didn’t look too closely or think too
clearly.

Unfortunately that has been my experience. And in my case it was a detective but absolutely half assed. Atleast someone checked , if it had been up to the deputy they wouldn’t have bothered. It’s pretty disturbing that the police really could care less about actually doing their job . Or that they really don’t have a clue as to do a investigation. WTF

I think that will all your negative comments about law enforcement officers you should sign up and show them how it should be done since you are such an expert on the topic. If you can do better, please do it. Otherwise, we are tired of hearing all your negative comments.

Hate to say it but he is correct. HCSO is not the best department in the state and really screwed the pooch on this one. I am not anti law enforcement but to assume a burned body is an animal not a person without proof when someone is missing is just flat incompetence not a mistake.
