Breaking News: Deputies Break Off High-Speed Covelo Pursuit, Tribal Police Join Search
A felony vehicle pursuit in the Covelo area late Friday morning sent deputies racing through rural roads as a white pickup—reportedly stolen—fled at high speeds, weaving through multiple stretches of northern Mendocino County before the terrain forced units to pull back.
Scanner traffic around 10:25 a.m. indicated Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated the pursuit of a white pickup with no license plates. Deputies requested California Highway Patrol assistance as the driver initially traveled at slow speeds before accelerating sharply.
The pursuit moved southbound on Mina Road, continued past Britton Point, and moments later deputies reported speeds reaching 90 mph. The driver then traveled toward Highway 162 at about 77 mph, before turning westbound onto Bigger Road at 40 mph. Deputies followed as the vehicle turned northbound onto Crawford Road, reportedly going the wrong way and blowing through stop signs, then continued northbound on Refuse Road. The driver later sped westbound at roughly 80 mph into a tight 90-degree turn.
Deputies ultimately reported they were “going up a hill” and were unable to maintain the pursuit due to the terrain.
A short time later, scanner traffic indicated deputies were doubling up with Tribal Police in 4WD vehicles and issuing a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for the fleeing pickup as they attempted to continue searching the area northwest of the dump.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more details become available.

I hope everyone survives this.
Nothing but trees and more trees on the roads west of the dump. Rifle Range rd goes through endless trees on any of the offshoot roads. Good luck finding him before the truck is reduces to a frame
