A vehicle crashed on southbound lane of Highway 101 between Myers Flat and Weott late this afternoon around 4:20 p.m., according to information from the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.

Early reports indicated a sports car type vehicle went off the roadway and came to rest against the guardrail. A man was seen walking around outside the vehicle shortly after the crash.

Initial dispatches suggested no obvious injuries, though CHP later reclassified the call as a traffic collision with unknown injuries. Reportedly, the #2 southbound lane is blocked.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 5:02 p.m.: According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page, the vehicle is a Porsche Macan with a blown out tire.

UPDATE: The roadway is now clear.

Went by this on my way home. Saw some flares first, then the car partially blocking the right SB lane. Any time you see flares in the road, slow way the heck down, because a fresh hazard has occurred and the needed traffic control probably hasn’t arrived yet.

That’s the Bermuda triangle of the 101 between Garberville and Eureka.

Ummm… I’m pretty sure Porsche doesn’t make anything called a “McCan”. Perhaps you meant ” Cayenne”?

Kym, Porsche makes a Cayenne and also a Macan which is a luxury crossover vehicle.
