Fickle Hill seems to have a long history of fires.

Humboldt seems to have a problem with houses burning. That is about the tenth house this month.

It’s the liberals. That’s why they need to go back to where they came from. And take their burning houses with them FFS!

People start up woodstoves when the weather turns damp and cold. Or switch on a heating system that has not been maintained. This should not be a surprise to anyone knowing that Humboldt is a damp and cold place in the winter.

Those who use wood stoves often forego smoke detectors because the wood stove sets them off when a bit of smoke escapes. I know. I used to fuss with my husband about that, finally giving up and just keeping a smoke detector in the kids’ rooms.

Im sorry to hear someone lost their house. I know from experience that it’s a horrible thing from beginning to end when the insurance company screws you over. The only bright spot is that no one was injured or worse.

You are so right about the smoke detectors going off, usually when a wood stove is just getting started, or when it “puffs (or pants)”, due to low draft. A good solution is to place the detector at the stove at a low position and remove it when it goes off and take it outside and reset. Be sure to take it back in when the air clears. Also, use a smoke detector that has a CO, detector with it.
