[UPDATE 3:02 p.m.] Hwy 162 Crash Traps Occupant, Air Ambulance Called Off
A collision on Highway 162 east of Willits Wednesday morning trapped at least one occupant and drew a request for air ambulance, but the patient ultimately declined transport, according to callers to the California Highway Patrol and scanner traffic.
The crash was reported around 11:38 a.m. near milepost 21. Callers told CHP dispatch that a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic to pass and struck another vehicle. A white dump truck was involved. Both lanes were initially blocked.
The air ambulance request and all advanced life support response were subsequently canceled. The patient declined transport against medical advice. One engine remained on scene for traffic control as of midday.
