Around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, a convoy of Humboldt County law enforcement officers was spotted staged at the River Lodge in Fortuna.

The convoy included at least six law enforcement pickups, one excavator, one bobcat, and one SUV. Staging areas such as this are commonly used by officers before deploying to marijuana eradication operations elsewhere in the county.

Lieutenant Conan Moore of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the county’s Marijuana Eradication Team (MET), along with allied agencies, will be serving search warrants today. The specific regions of these operations were not disclosed.

More details are expected as information becomes available.

once again, our public servants are at war with the very people they are supposed to be serving. Marijana is legal, their problem some people don’t want to pay the extortion fee to enjoy something that is not illegal. I’m glad they don’t do that with corn or carrots.

IMHO:

Tobacco is taxed heavily.

These taxes vary significantly by location, with a federal tax of $1.01 per pack and state taxes ranging from less than $0.50 to over $5.00 per pack

Booze is taxed heavily

Spirits: Taxed per proof gallon ($13.50 for large producers). A proof gallon is a liquid gallon that is 50% alcohol by volume. As a result, spirits are the most heavily taxed alcohol per ounce of pure alcohol.

Wine: Taxed per wine gallon, with varying rates based on alcohol content. Rates range from $1.07 for wine with 14% alcohol or less to $3.40 for sparkling wine

Beer: Taxed per 31-gallon barrel ($18 for large producers).

Dope should be taxed heavily too.

Effective July 1, 2025, the rate is 19%. A law was passed in September 2025 to reverse this increase and return the rate to 15% until 2028, pending the Governor’s signature

All of those monies should got to repairing the lives ruined by those drugs.

Go figure.
