[UPDATE 5:55 p.m.] House Fire Northeast of Ukiah Spreads Into Vegetation

A residence west of the Vichy Springs area and east of 101 in Mendocino County in the 1400 block of Fawnwood Drive caught fire this afternoon, and flames quickly spread into the surrounding vegetation. By 2 p.m. the house was reported fully engulfed in flames. A smoke column was visible from the area.

Scanner reports described multiple small spot fires igniting around the residence as embers carried into the dry vegetation, but firefighters have mostly contained the fire to the home as of 2:15 p.m.

UPDATE 5:55 p.m.: The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department reports as of 5:48 p.m., “The incident has been resolved…Use caution as personnel may still be in the area.”
