Press release from the County of Humboldt:

Humboldt County First District Supervisor Rex Bohn has been reappointed by National Association of Counties (NACo) President J.D. Clark to serve as Vice-Chair of NACo’s Rural Action Caucus for a one-year term.
NACo’s Rural Action Caucus is the voice for rural counties before Congress and the White House. Since 1997, the Rural Action Caucus has represented the nearly 70 percent of rural counties in the U.S., addressing critical federal, state and local issues impacting these unique communities.
“Most counties in the U.S. are rural, and it’s crucial for us to be part of the conversation at the national level,” said First District Supervisor Rex Bohn. “It’s important for Humboldt County to have a seat at the table, not just to share our unique perspective, but also to learn from other rural counties and help bring federal resources back to our region. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and excited to continue to serve the people of Humboldt County in this role for another year.”
Nearly two-thirds of the nation’s 3,069 counties are designated as rural. County elected officials from these rural areas are dedicated to solving many critical issues impacting rural life including infrastructure development, broadband deployment, development of new rural clinics and hospitals, road and bridge construction and maintenance, business development opportunities and many more. Each rural county faces unique challenges, but all share a common goal to build healthy, vibrant and prosperous communities. NACo’s Rural Action Caucus provides county leaders with a strong platform to elevate the voices of rural America in Washington, D.C. and beyond.

Retire Papa Rex. Please!
Who the F is JD Clark? Clearly integrity isn’t a requirement for him to make staffing appointments. Rex does not and never will represent me. Absolutely unbelievable.
Mr. Nepotism…
Amazing talent for doing nothing and being paid!
Rex Bohn is a decent model of American Government in inaction…
It’s difficult to believe that a man so unqualified and, well, stupid, could occupy any position of responsibility in the public sphere…
Happens in every rural county, and Northern CA in General…
Excellent comment about Rex Bohn! I completely agree 100%!
Congratulations Rex!
I don’t think that people realize how important that it is to have Humboldt County represented on such a prestigious and important national level.
At some point we are going to have to understand Humboldt is being sucked into an economic hole and will need National help to rise back out of it.
I admire Rex’s zeal to help Humboldt, and not all people will be trying to keep us down in that hole we have dug. Please ignore the haters and naysayers. We need recognition and prosperity.
Well, first you will need an economic base that does not involve Corporations or Cartels…
With Pot Farmers leading your County, Humboldt is clearly doomed…
It’s OK, they can always start growing Poppy…
Rex has a zeal to attract donations, and “Black Bag Funding”, but you need to get the power out of the back room, and end the inbred nature of your leadership…
Rex Bohn, Michelle Bushnell, Mike Wilson and yes, even little Mr Madrone, they all need new interests beyond milking Humboldt for their ridiculous salaries…
Life is not a movie, you are not just watching it all happen…
Go out and change something, start something, build something…
Like a future…
“Go out and change something, start something, build something…”
and therein lies the rub
Mr. Bohn has no ethics, and has proven himself unfit for public service time and time again. He has no respect for even the appearance of impropriety, and is the poster child for good old boy politics in Humboldt County. He is nothing more than an embarrassment.
Dave
Don’t let perfection get in the way of the best we’ve got.
I think Rex is the best we’ve got. We heard you weren’t available….
Government by the “least worst” candidates, and by those seated after running unopposed…
The best you got is none too good…
Thanks for the confidence, Ernie – you’re right; I’m not available for that job. I would cut your brush for you if you wanted. I’ll tell you what. If I did do that job I might not bring home as much pork for my district as him. But you could damn sure count on me to recuse myself when I had a conflict of interest, which seems like a concept Mr. Bohn is unfamiliar with.
Neither would I utter racial slurs, whether in public or otherwise.
And how about a couple of years ago, when he defended his buddy Bongio, the disgraced planning commissioner who egregiously violated the conditions of his building permit? You’re memory’s not that poor, is it? That was a real doozy.
Dave
You serve your community well. Thank you!
Rex is a mixed bag and cuts a wide swath. He has been more effective than most of our Supervisors. What you see is what you get.
When Something goes wrong it’s usually the person that is, at least, doing something.
Thank you Ernie – as do you. But if someone as corrupt as him is the best we can do, we’ve got a lot to be ashamed about, imho.
Ernie, I just can’t believe you like Rex.
There is enough ignorance and hate in the world. Try checking the good things that Rex has done.
One “Ah shit” doesn’t always cancel one hundred “Atta boys”.
I would Ernie if I could find some.
You.need to fire your research department.
Government intervention via Prop. 64 put us in this hole. More government isn’t the answer.
Great Job Rex. So glad you are there and not one of the embarrassing council members.
Rex is a very responsive Supervisor. Countless projects out here in the Mattole have been addressed or assisted by Rex, usually in a very timely fashion.
People who want to put him in some partisan box… all i can say is, Haters gonna hate.
.
County Supes do not run on partisan agendas; rather, on serving their constituents. This isn’t the Supreme Court.
Good to hear. I respect your opinion. I don’t have a good opinion of Rex. Due to his scandalous behavior in the cannabis “legalization”. But you sticking up for him? I like it when I hear something different from what I believe ..makes me think
Rex is and has been a “mixed bag” IMO.
I have observed that nobody is 100% perfect, and few are 100% rotten. There are aspects of Rex that are not on my description of the model human being. But as far as getting things done and representing the people he’s meant to represent– and doing it most often in good humor– as well as coming out to volunteer for community causes– keeping an extremely busy schedule– he seems to me to be to be extremely good at his job.
You said it better than me! 🙂
Thank you, Farce. I really only know what i see out here, around the Mattole Grange and sometimes Community Center or Petrolia events. He shows up and lends a hand. There’s all that stuff we read in the news and sometimes i just have to say, “It’s too much. Who cares. In real life, he’s here; and if it’s just a matter of who posted what or said what online, that’s nothing compared to the real guy.” If it’s just the act of a politician, he performs that act very well (in the flesh).
Not to diminish the sufferings of anyone whose life was damaged by “his scandalous behavior in the cannabis ‘legalization’.” I honestly don’t know about that.
Not to mention the scandalous behavior within the cannabis industry which he helped remove.
AS LONG AS HE DOES NOT BUY ANY TACOS (OR HE MAY LOSE HIS HUB CAPS) HE SHOULD BE FINE! LOL…
LOL………………..that was a good one…………………!
Rex was the vanguard in the “not woke crowd”.
I doesn’t hurt to accept a little bit of humor about yourself.
I heard that the Mexicans have told some good Bohn jokes also.
Some people get so serious about ridiculous things that they kill each other. I prefer the folks that can laugh with each other. The world could be a better place with a little humor.
That’s not how the joke went…
He could give a speech on snuffing out the strongest rural economy this side of Saturn.
The economy is not all he snuffed out. I’m thankful that part has gone.
