Press release from Caltrans District 2:

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and American Pavement Systems, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the Douglas City Chip Project on State Route 299 in Trinity County. The $1.83 million project will provide a flexible roadbed chip seal on SR 299 in and near Weaverville to east of Douglas City, from just west of Industrial Parkway to Steel Bridge Road. The project will also provide areas of asphalt concrete dig outs and the removal and replacement of thermoplastic markings and striping.

Construction activities are currently planned to start on Monday, July 14. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 20-minute delays, Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. Please note the potential for loose gravel during chip placement operations. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of August.

Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice. Caltrans and its contractors do our best to keep the public informed.
