Motorcyclist Receives Major Injuries in Crash Near Burnt Ranch on Highway 299 Today
Around 4:15 p.m. today, emergency responders were sent to a motorcycle crash near mile marker 12.7 on State Route 299 east of Burnt Ranch in Trinity County, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.
First reports indicated a motorcycle was down with the rider lying on the side of the road. A 911 text later added that someone involved in the crash appeared to be trapped.
Due to the remote area, firefighters and CHP did not arrive immediately on scene. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was confirmed to be involved, and a tow truck from Buddy’s Auto Tow was called to retrieve the bike. The CHP later called the crash a major injury collision.
The rider, identified only as a 27-year-old, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital with injuries described over radio as including broken ribs.
Traffic does not appear to have been significantly blocked, and no other vehicles were involved.

“rider lying on the side of the road” Milepost 12.7 Not many sides of the road in that area. He’s lucky.
It seems to me that mile marker 12.7 should be somewhere going up Lord Ellis, not east of Burnt Ranch
The mile marker given begins at the Trinity Co line.
12.7 in tri city county
Trinity County Caveman
Sounds like the Harley rider is lucky to have crashed and only received some broken ribs Glad one or two did not puncture his lungs. Did he have a passenger that was trapped under the Harley or was there a vehicle also involved.
