[11:34 p.m.: A tragic update] Boy Goes Missing on Group Trip in Lake County
Authorities are searching for a missing 14-year-old boy last seen Sunday afternoon near the Big Beach area of Hidden Valley Lake in Lake County.
As per a Facebook post from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Andrew Roberts of Clearlake was part of a group trip and reportedly told others around 4:15 p.m. that he was heading to the pool. He has not been seen or heard from since.
Andrew is described as approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, 115 pounds, with dark blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a blue “Konocti Pathfinders” shirt, black pants — possibly with blue swim trunks underneath — and carrying a gray backpack.
Emergency crews have been actively searching the area since the report of his disappearance. Scanner traffic indicates authorities are concentrating efforts around Big Beach, where the teen was last seen, and have dispatched a dive team to the nearby marina. Teams also stated their intention to search the adjacent Little Beach area as operations continue into the evening hours.
Anyone who has seen Andrew or has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 263-2690.

Ohhh. Terrible and scary circumstances! His parents, family and friends must be so stressed!! I want to make suggestions or ask a pivotal question. But no doubt searchers are way ahead of me. May he be found safe and soon!
Unfortunately this has ended in tragedy, his body has been found by the water. 💔According to the Nixle alert. “LCSD: Andrew Roberts, 14, was found deceased by North Shore Dive Team at 10:40 PM on 6/8. Our condolences go out to his loved ones.”
My sincerest condolenses to his family and all who knew and loved Andrew. Please keep us updated on whether this looked like a accidental drowning or a murder for the safety of all our children in N California.

Dear God, please let those searching for Andrew Roberts locate him quickly and I really pray he will be found is good condition. My heart breaks for Andrews parents and friends. They must be going thru hell with worry right now. Sadly, I just read a comment and unfortunately Andrew was found deceased in the water. RIP Andrew. My most sincere condolences for his family, friends and the searchers who tried so hard. A very tragic ending to what was supposed to be a fun trip.

As you have probably read, I said if you can’t say anything nice, then shut the hell up! If this Boys out outing was swimming at this tiny lake, how did an adult not see him in the water and in need of help? Where were the adults? He drowned while with his group and the group left to the swimming pool not knowing the child drowned? Then while the group was at the pool they then noticed him missing? How many hours later did they notice he was missing? Who is the actual reporting party that said Andrew left to the pool? How reliable is that? He obviously drowned while at the lake with the group so how is it possible he was out of the water leaving to walk to the pool? It doesn’t make sense. This needs to be looked into because it doesn’t add up. If an adult said this, why would one child be allowed to leave alone to a second location even though that’s not true, he never left the lake or the group. Love, peace, and full transparency for Andrew and his family please.
It is sad , yes he was a child still, but lets not act as if he was not capable , at 14 many children are out on their own it is not ideal by any means. If i remember correctly pathfinders is the adventist churches boy scouts. So basically he was a 14 year old boy scout , the real questions should be where where the scout leaders and as a group of scouts , why werent they using the buddy system ? Something just does not add up here

A very interesting comment. I have wondered the same thing. I also wonder if there was a crime involved, was he picked on, hazed or worse?
What does that even mean, “capable”. When it comes to capable, it depends on the individual regardless if they are a child or an adult. Swimming is always a possible danger for children and even adults so why would a Boy Scout outing with adults lead to such a tragedy and confusion as to the child’s actual whereabouts (the lake or the pool) and how many hours that he had been missing? It sounds like there were a lot of people present when he drowned but no one saw it or noticed he was missing. Odd.

It is odd,similar thoughts i had.how did he drowned when he was with a group on an outting.i have only been to tbat lake once but memory serves me it was small.this is like the baby that drowned at the Carson mansion baffling

Zipline, they did locate his body in the water by the docks. How he ended up there I really don’t know at this point.

why does such a tragedy occur, especially as a young person comes round the corner into a new, dynamic time of life??!!! So so sad for all!!!

Based on everything I know about group trips with youth, children are to be under adult supervision at all times (except while using the bathroom, dressing, sleeping, etc). Assigning blame won’t bring this child back, but it still needs to be done.
