Rio Dell Elementary Celebrates Student Creativity and Self-Esteem at ‘Best Part of Me’ Open House

The evening featured the highly anticipated “Best Part of Me” Student Art Show, highlighting the remarkable talents and heartfelt reflections of Rio Dell’s young learners. 

Inspired by an award-winning photography book that asked children, “What is the best part of you?”, students at Rio Dell Elementary created powerful visual and written works that reflect their pride, individuality, and self-esteem. The resulting art show was a heartfelt display of black-and-white photographs accompanied by students’ personal reflections, offering visitors a glimpse into the beauty and diversity of each child’s unique perspective. 

“This project offered our students an incredible opportunity to explore what they love most about themselves,” said Hannah Bruckner, School Counselor. “In a world where young people often face pressure about their appearance, this event helped them focus on positive self-image and celebrate who they are. Seeing their pride and creativity on full display was truly inspiring.” 

In addition to viewing the artwork, attendees connected with the Rio Dell Family Resource Center, which provided information on family support services, community programs, and wellness resources available to Rio Dell families. The center’s presence underscored the district’s commitment to nurturing not only the academic success but also the emotional and social well-being of its students. 

The evening was a shining example of how schools and communities can come together to empower children, foster strong self-esteem, and celebrate the many ways students are growing into their best selves.
