Zane Middle School is a little south on S St. There’s also a Special Education (or used to be) facility in that area. People drive “bxlls to the walls” on that steep curve on S St.
Not really. That street mural is about 50 feet south of the north entrance, and north of the bus/main entrance with both connecting in a loop that goes by the gym. I’ve been there for many a’ kids basketball and other games. The murals and the yellow crosswalk were put there to keep people that wait for kids to get out form parking on the crest of the big hill, which begins right there, and blocking people’s view of traffic and creating a nightmare for parents and kids right at the top of the big dip.
The Glen Paul Center, the special Education center is next to Winship JHS in Cutten.
G’earth-ly view.
Zane was really a nightmare when the Buhne and S intersection was a 4 way stop, even with 4 large school buses unloading and loading students on every school day.
One felt like that they won the lottery if they were picked to ride the school bus to Zane, which cut down the traffic in that area when school was in.
I walk there daily.
Ok, and? I go by it nearly daily too. It’s right next to it (see photo inset). The main buildings anyway. But we can agree that it occurred right at the top of the steepest part of the dip and people like to speed and catch air. Used to be even worse years ago, and I remember when the bottom of the ravine area drains would clog up in heavy rain and a two foot deep lake covered all lanes, covering even the sidewalk on occasion.
Before Eureka fixed “Thrill Hill'” on Hodgson Street, that was the place for “catching air “.
Looks like maybe she glanced off the rear diver’s side of the White Dodge Ram seen in the background of the pics and video.
Was the driver a she as you wrote?
Yes, in listening to the various first responder convos via the local online scanner feeds, it was mentioned that the driver was a female.
