Mendocino County Woman Wanted on Elder Theft, Identity Fraud Warrants Found Hiding in Motel Bathroom

This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent unless proven guilty:

On June 13, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant was conducting uniformed patrol in the area of a local motel when they observed a vehicle associated with Jodi Dutra, who had two outstanding felony arrest warrants.

One arrest warrant was for failure to appear related to the following underlying charges: 368(d) PC – Theft from an Elder, 530.5 PC – Using Another Person’s Identity to Obtain Credit or Goods Without Permission, 487 PC – Grand Theft, 1170.12 PC – Prior Strike Allegation, and 11359(b) HS – Possession of Marijuana for Sale.

The second arrest warrant was for 1203.2 PC – Violation of Dutra’s formal probation within the County of Mendocino.

The vehicle was registered to a known associate of Dutra. Additional Sheriff’s Deputies responded and made contact at the motel room associated with the vehicle. The associated subject provided consent for Deputies to enter and search the room. During the search, Dutra was located inside, hiding behind a bathroom door.

Dutra was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Mendocino County Jail, where she is being held on a no-bail status.
