Hundreds Gather in Eureka for “No Kings” Rally Against Trump Administration

Video and photos by Ryan Hutson

Yesterday, an estimated 700 to 800 people filled the steps and sidewalks outside the Humboldt County Courthouse in Eureka as part of a coordinated nationwide protest under the banner “50501”—a movement named for 50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement. This was the third 50501 rally since President Donald Trump took office.

Signs at the protest read, "Preserve the Rule of Law" and " None of this is Normal."

Two signs at the protest read, “Preserve the Rule of Law” and ” None of this is Normal.”

Locally, the rally was organized by Food Not Bombs and 50501CA, drawing a diverse crowd between noon and 2 p.m. carrying signs, chanting, and listening to speakers. Performances by Harmonic Howl, captured on video by Redheaded Blackbelt reporter Ryan Hutson, added a musical element to the gathering.

The event, dubbed “No Kings,” was one of many held across the country to protest what organizers describe as the increasingly autocratic actions of the Trump administration. From New York to San Francisco, groups gathered in public squares, parks, and courthouses with a unified message: opposition to authoritarianism, support for democracy, and concern for civil liberties.

In addition to speeches and music, the Eureka rally included a food drive to benefit local Food Not Bombs chapters. The grassroots group regularly distributes free meals in public spaces, and organizers said today’s collection would help continue that work at a time when community need is high.

At each protest, a new handmaid has joined.

The rally was peaceful as far as we saw, with many attendees expressing concern about they say is the erosion of democratic norms and the chilling of dissent nationwide.

At least our senior citizens are getting out, getting active, hopefully slowing the pace of further cognitive decline but let’s hope they’re also getting the same $25/hr paid by the leftist agitators in other cities.

Here is this morning’s latest, when the 80-year old in the White House was asked what he thinks about the “rule of law”:

Where do you sign up for that? Hundreds of thousands of people are protesting across the country at the same day/time in hundreds if not thousands of protests – do you really think anyone is bankrolling that? These people aren’t dealing with cognitive decline, been there and know them – they are smart as whips and can cite chapter and verse the hundreds of ways the orange turd is eroding freedom and liberty for all of us. If you don’t believe the extent of protests nationwide or the number of issues this lunatic has created that people are protesting against, turn off Fox News and learn the world the rest of us know.

Is the “protest marshal” getting paid…???

He’s the guy that looks like he works for the County…

Reflective vest that says, “Protest Marshal”

I’m not sure he’s there to protest, or if he’s getting paid to attend for security purposes, or both, but he might be getting paid to attend, if he is providing “security”…

Maybe he is “on the clock”, either way…???

Plus, Squirrel doesn’t say the ones here are getting paid, he just says he hopes they are, like they are elsewhere, in other cities…

Is this garden of yours one of these criminal alien Jardínes de la Raza? Racist much? I’m sick of all this pale oppression. My women are proud to garden all day in neatly ironed hand sewed print prairie dress. If they’ve been good they get to fashion themselves a sun bonnet.
You sir, need to hitch up those slacks, tuck that shirt into your underwear preferably, button your collar, shave, (tactical level beards are acceptable) and head on over to our fantastic rally. Just as soon as we schedule it.

Specifically, by invoking his hero McVeigh, who murdered 168 innocent people in the Oklahoma City bombing, Zipline was advocating for blowing up the courthouse, the protesters and anyone else in the area — in calling a cowardly killer a hero and advocating for the murder of innocent people Zipline may have hit a new low.

Yup. McVeigh said it was in response to government cowardice killings at Ruby Ridge and Waco. I agree the government was guilty. But then his target should have been a government barracks not anything including a day care center!! Guy was a murderous asshole trying to play patriotic rebel. I heard there was an FBI office in the building but they all stayed away that day…was that true?! Stayed away but let the children attend?

It’s disturbing that some people see Timothy McVeigh as a hero, given the tragedy he caused. The Oklahoma City bombing took the lives of 168 innocent people, including children. McVeigh claimed he was retaliating against the government, but at the end of the day, most recognize him as a mass murderer, not a patriot.

But as I’ve gotten older and hopefully more mature I try to find better language in public and especially around kids. I’d be fine if you didn’t post pictures of crude signs. I am not shocked but disappointed that people of any persuasion feel a need to be publicly and blatantly crude. Ok- maybe the Free Speech Movement had a point in being crude lol! These particular protestors have my philosophical support but when they have sexually crude signs I am off- they are divisive amongst their own supporters. Show Some Class, Handmaidens!! I don’t think we should give them anymore of the attention that they are obviously desperately seeking…

We would have a terrific celebration rally. Our community cares so very deeply about our Strong Vibrant Leader. These protestors, who are obviously paid make the Leader feel bad. We’re just worried about our rally being too big, shutting down commerce and all. And Diverse. Our rally will be so diverse. Almost too diverse. ICE might want to hang out! Trump has tremendous support among Latinos. Some might want to turn themselves in.

I think every person in cars driving by must have been counted too 🤡 the desperation from the butthurt left really shows in the enormously inflated protest numbers. It’s called bias. Or a typo, an error in density math, or a blatant lie. Suffice to say, the numbers are padded and everyone knows it .
I laugh at empty heads that repeat those numbers as if they believe multiple hundreds (nay, millions) of people singing or dressed up on the street, somehow equates to some kind of political clout. 😂
The Democrats need to locate some strong leadership, with real plans that will help Americans (not just their border-jumping friends that pad the census and put more seats in Congress for them,) and get ready for the midterms! Y’all got time to party on the Highway 101? Really? This country is swinging so far to the right and the plan right now is to ignore all that and sing along with “Keep On The Sunny Side? I promise you, painting your face, or a dumbass sign, will not put good leadership in office . Hint: Shrill AOC and cackling Harris are not our ticket off the right wing (common sense) train.

All “resist” w no solution to step towards does not help anything. Where is the 3rd Party with some decent ideas? There are many people disgusted w BOTH parties so where are the reasonable debates, leaders that have not sold us out…where can we head Towards instead of just crying and complaining because these protests are ineffective and frankly embarrassing…

Funny meme, but the quote did not come from Sandy.
It’s a classic going back to the cold war. “Under capitalism, man exploits man.
Under communism, it’s the other way around.”
I first read it in Mad magazine, something like sixty years ago.
But I do agree with Senator John Kennedy that we should let her speak.

Republican core values include absolute power concentrated in the manly normal sized hands of a supernatural Strongman. We are the ones who are repressed, these criminal gangbangereños don’t get it because of our brulliant business acumen creates a veneer of success, but inside, we fear rape and pillage by excessively melanated communist hordes. It’s fascinating there’s always time to photograph and video these lunatics as well as “report” on the “injustice” of deporting illegals who criminally came here. Why isn’t there time to photograph and video the horrible illegal homeless encampment dump a mere 6 or 7 blocks away from this “protest?” Would that be too much of a black eye on the failures of the far left ECC and BOS, maybe EPD, HCSO and the DA? The truth is, this 5150 group of protesters is the least newsworthy activity, yet it is one of the most reported on events every time. Time for a real story about real problems instead of glorifying these unhinged, misinformed losers protesting based on lies.

  1. It is because liberals and democrats have worked over time to create all this filth, garbage and destruction. They love dirty disgusting ppl and places because it makes them feel better about their degenerative lifestyles and appearances. Look at the pictures. Pure filth and degeneracy. They use environmental issues to steal money then go take selfies of them clean up a garbage bag full of trash. You can always tell a liberal or Democrat by how self righteous they are. Go to the reservations and they will claim to be protecting fish and care about the environment but yet there is junk cars and garbage in everyone’s yards, starving dogs running around looking for scraps of food and dirty kids out in the streets with no supervision etc. Then go around Garberville and go in ppls house. Most are disgusting with dog n cats all over the place and they always want to tell you what is good for you and how to live and who to vote for etc. Liberalism in today’s form is another name for mental illness. We have morbidly obese ppl running healthy start programs, school teachers that look like they came out of a tropical fish aquarium with hooks still in them, we have 160 billion of missing tax funds and governors buying 9 million dollar mansions with cash on a 143,000 a yr salary but hey, let’s get out on a Saturday with our stupid degenerate signs, looking like ppl out of the hills have eyes and get those selfies up on our social media to make us look more self righteous to the other mentally ill ppl. California is the laughing stock of the world but yet the liberals and democrats should do think highly of themselves and their political over lords.

No. The harrowing experience of the owner of the website personally abusing her readers. It’s like a recreational sport. Even complaint about it becomes fodder for more of the same.
Of course you’re not moved by that. I have no such optimism left. As you put it once, “forgive me if I (what was the word? Was Concerned? have more empathy for those who have a history of oppression? Discrimination?) ” than those that are being attacked now. Although frankly is the simplest to resolve. It only takes not defensively toweling the sarcasm on with a front end loader.
You know (no you don’t because you never ask) this is the first time in my long life that I ever responded in kind in a sustained manner to such personal pettiness. I believe responding in kind is more destructive to the one doing it than to the one receiving. It took the election of Trump to convince me that the idea of temperance and tolerance of what the left has become, which I had previously considered necessary to prevent inhumanity in government, was way too damaging to society to let whiz on unopposed. It delivered Trump the Presidency yet there is zero sign of recognizing that. There is no level of tolerance that the left will not push for more.
I still miss Hot Coffee. But she’s probably healthier for the banning. She was way too sensitive.

You know what is the major difference? I am not a professional commenter. You are a profession journalist. A professional journalist using terms like “whine” “venomous darts” “incredible suffering.” ” particular kind of um…something”. That qualifies as pretty much abuse.
On the scale used by media bias sites, that alone puts this into the “loaded language” category. The worst I use was “passive aggressive.” Oh and “personal pettiness.” Reporter fragility much?
I am not responsible for your problems with focus or the “jerk who sent me a threat.” The solution for you is exactly the same as the one you gave me- ” If you’d prefer not to hear my perspective, maybe stop jumping into unrelated threads just to whine about being mistreated.”

This morning a relative who does door dash and uber was complaining about how many more people were out there competing for business. It was not intended as a comment on immigration but he pointed out that he said he had his account frozen for two weeks while Uber “updated security protocols.” He’d hoped that the group of Haitians who hung around Walmart, using one verified ID to snag all the business then pass it out to their friends would be gone. When he got recertification, he found them doing business as usual. It changed nothing. As usual, people who try to play be the rules the government imposes find themselves losing out to those who don’t.
Why was this relevant to this article. “New DoorDash protocols that must now be followed include requiring select “Dashers” to re-verify their identity between deliveries; aided by deploying machine learning technology to better detect signs of inauthentic activity. The San Francisco-based company also promises to increase its real-time identity checks to over 150,000 a week, with a rollout program already underway across the U.S.” yeah sure.
“Some drivers told Newsweek that the re-verification process not only stunt drivers’ ability to remain consistent in their deliveries and profits but also puts customers at a safety disadvantage because someone delivering their food may not be who they say they are.”

That’s only one issue those companies are working through. There’s any number of social media accounts out there where people are selling their delivery accounts to people without licenses or even vehicles (which in some larger cities is not required), especially those wanting to drive, yet have a suspension or revocation.

However the point is immigration and rule of law and their import. Not the struggles of social websites. A certain level of lawlessness can be tolerated without breaking down the functioning of society. It’s when the level of lawlessness reaches a volume and quality that it must be taken into account in every aspect of life that society become dysfunctional. It’s true of homeless, crime, violence, poverty, drug addiction, etc etc etc.
Then the reactions happen which is likely even more disruptive. And here we all are.

This article is eerily similar to the Trump focused world of the Progressives. It’s about why people become addicted to soap operas.

“The strong sense of familiarity viewers feel for their favorite characters can lead to strong emotions. The genre is famous for constantly shaking up its romantic pairings, ensuring that some subset of viewers are always going to be angry (while some other subset is going to be cheering). A criticism of soaps is that strong emotion can result in a temporary blurring of the lines of fantasy and reality, and it’s true that actors who just happen to be playing villainous characters draw a lot of irate comments on social media.”

No one wants to fix the national trauma of this particular soap opera. They want to surf on the emotion. Like soap opera fans, the left is addicted to the emotional out pouring. They reject in fact the simplest compromise between the pro-and-anti antagonist to resolve the tension. They want the drama for all the complainst.

A quote by teddy rosavelt. “By what right did I take Panama? By no right but I took it anyway.” This is nothing new. Remember Bush going after the Dixie chichs? Where were the whinners then? Get over it the Democrat plan to save the world was a joke and a way to steal money. YEAH TRUMP IS THE ONLY THIEF IN AMERICAN GOVERNMENT ACCORDING TO YOU.

It was nice having all the vagrants gathered together in one place. Spent the day on the pier fishing with my grandson was completely empty.
