Extrication Needed After Major Injury Crash on Berta Road, Transported with Serious Injuries
On April 5, 2025, a major traffic collision occurred on Berta Road, near the area of the 7000 block Berta Road, when a gray Dodge Ram 1500 ran off the roadway, approximately 15-20 feet, where it struck a tree. At 1:39 p.m., Humboldt Bay Fire and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene, with the driver trapped inside the vehicle.
According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information page, two occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the single-vehicle collision. The driver, exhibiting symptoms of shock at the time of the rescue attempt, needed extricated from the vehicle due to the driver’s side of the vehicle wedged against a tree that was “holding [the] truck in place.” Firefighters worked swiftly to extricate the driver, who was later identified as having sustained major injuries.
Humboldt Towing was called to the scene for vehicle recovery, and a rotation request for a second tow vehicle was also made to assist with the situation. Please use caution in the area.
At this time, the cause of the crash is under investigation.
