Over 200 Protest Trump Administration in Eureka on Presidents Day

On Monday, more than 200 people gathered in front of the Humboldt County Superior Courthouse in Eureka, joining a wave of demonstrations across the country against the Trump administration. Protesters carried signs with messages reflecting a broad range of concerns, including attacks on public health, civil rights, and government accountability. Some signs read “Our health above their wealth,” criticizing cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, while others, like “My president would not cut research funding for my daughter’s medical diagnosis,” called attention to reductions in NIH funding.

Other messages, such as “Protect trans people” and “Everyone welcome,” highlighted fears over policies seen as undermining LGBTQ+ rights and immigrant protections. Economic frustrations were also on display, with signs like “Eat the rich” and “Trump = grifter, loser, traitor,” pointing to concerns about corruption and wealth inequality. Some protesters took a more direct stance against rising extremism, holding signs that read “Fck Nazis.” Others carried messages of unity, including “Love each other” and “This is what democracy looks like.”

A press release ahead of the event called for a National Day of Protest, urging people to come together from noon to 2 p.m. to voice their concerns. “We are all affected—we are all connected,” the statement read.

The protest in Eureka aligned with the broader 50501 Movement, a national effort that emerged in response to what organizers see as increasing executive overreach and attacks on democracy. The movement, which takes its name from the idea of “50 protests in 50 states, one movement,” aims to defend the Constitution and push back against federal policies that protesters believe undermine democratic institutions.

Despite this alignment, Eureka City Councilmember and local Democratic Party Chair G. Mario Fernandez said there was no formal local organization behind the protest. He stated that the event came together organically, with people showing up independently to voice their concerns.

During the demonstration, the crowd was largely met with honks of support from passing drivers, though there was at least one detractor—someone in a passing vehicle shouted, “Go Trump!”

Why does Twitter need your SS#”

Similar protests took place across the U.S. on Monday. In Boston, nearly 1,000 people rallied despite freezing temperatures, with some dressing in Revolutionary War-era clothing to emphasize their concerns about democracy. In Albany, New York, hundreds gathered outside the state Capitol, many protesting both Trump and Elon Musk, who was recently appointed head of the federal Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The White House has defended the changes as necessary cost-saving measures, but critics argue they strip away essential government services and hand too much power to the executive branch.

In Eureka, the protest remained peaceful, and as the crowd thinned, many discussed the need for continued action.

Another day, another lame protest…

Der Fuhrer is in office, and he’s running everything just perfect, and according to plan…

Just step into the train car, we’re going to the day spa…

Remember:

Trump is psychotic, a convicted felon, and he’s looking a little tired…

Elon Musk: You’re fired…

If you really want to protest, kill your Starlink, burn your Tesla, stop using PayPal, and refuse to consume, anything at all for 90 days…

That’ll teach em…

Convicted felon? Sure. Why is he fired? Why kill internet anywhere? I heard of one Indian guru living on air for 15 years. Does that count as consuming? The real question is who was running the government from 2020 to late 2024? Do you know? Was it your crazy uncle skeeter up in New Harris? Or how about Ridge in Rockport? Elvira in Elk? Sage in Honeydew? Were they the real President?

Heh heh I went there too….
While some like to believe we are a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. By the electoral college (and coincidentally the popular vote) Trump won the presidency. Protesting in California seems a moot point. Our electoral votes have been historically cast for the Democratic candidate so no Trump voter or Trump supporter can hurt you here.
Better effort might be spent pulling together the working parts of the Democratic party, it’s a hot mess right now!! The Democrats brought negative value to the table literally nothing of worth, and the voters confirmed that reality. Their only hope is the midterms.
I’ve never subscribed to dramatic pink-hat marches or virtue-signalling street antics, but in this scenario it seems like standing in the street is beyond pointless. The conservative train is hauling ass down the tracks people, and Americans have been jumping on board left and right.
It’s time for the libs to quit crying, stop the pathetic pity party, put on their thinking caps, come up with some decent ideas, (that are not rooted in some extreme and controversial ideology) and bring people to represent the party that aren’t cackling hyenas that can form complete sentences!

Eastbay Kidd

My observations (not accusations) are based on the couple of dozen comments I have read of yours today, so they are not exactly “baseless”. Your comments are quite indicative of that blend of malignant narcissism and cognitive dissonance that are the hallmark of the American Left. You seem to dislike Trump because he’s doing exactly what he said he would do, which is in many ways exactly what the majority of Americans want him to do, which is to drain the swamp, cut out the waste, and send the cockroaches scurrying. This isn’t anything new, the people in this country have made it clear what they wanted and the Democrats chose to say “screw you” to the people and in the case of illegal immigration, double down on promoting exactly the opposite of what the people wanted, to the point that they eroded significant numbers of their base constituency and lost an election because of that. So what exactly are these TDS afflicted loopy-loos protesting again? Maybe the Democrats should be protesting their own DNC instead, which peddled an absolutely horrible candidate, and still hasn’t caught on based on their recent convention they held recently where their “platform” was a mashup of Monty Python and South Park, with the speakers more concerned about the number of “non-binary” committee candidates than any type of substantive policy discussions. The Democrats have gone from being the Silly Party in the 1990s to the Very Silly Party in the 2010’s and is now the Extremely Silly Party in 2025. Whose fault is that again?

You’re reading comprehension is poor or, more likely, your ability and propensity for projection is strong.

I dislike trump, as a person, because he is an almost necessarily fictional avatar of the sort of flamboyant self interest and presentation-over-substance decadence that defines post wat American decadence.

As a political current, I don’t necessarily dislike him. I understand his appeal, I didn’t vote for him (I’ll send this site $10 if you can guess who I voted for), but it doesn’t surprise me that he’s appealing to lots of people. And I appreciate the parts of his messaging that transcend name calling and grievance-face identity politics. I remain cautiously optimistic that he will be a net positive for the nation, though probably a fair bit less optimistic than I was a month ago.

And I generally agree with your critique of the democrat party. Go ahead and try to find a comment of mine praising, or even approving of, the democrats. I’m not a Democrat. I’m not a partisan. I’m pretty pragmatic about my approach to politics and a big part of that is that I have zero loyalty. Show me reasoned assessment of the issues and a considered plan and I’m open to supporting you.

But it’s clear that your interest is primarily partisan. You are obviously deeply invested in the adversarial binary that manipulated media presents us as the reality of our political system. The American people didn’t, and haven’t in a long time, make much clear in this last election beyond the fact that they are deeply polarized and more interested in “defeating their enemy” than in solving our problems.

Kym Kemp

A lot of people seem to forget that 2020 had the highest voter turnout percentage in over a century—about 67% of eligible voters participated. That wasn’t just about Biden; it was a reaction to Trump. Record numbers of people voted, including by mail due to the pandemic. Whether someone likes Biden or not, the numbers make sense when you factor in the massive push for mail-in voting, pandemic-driven turnout efforts, and a deeply polarized electorate. If you’re looking for fraud, even Trump’s own administration and multiple audits found no widespread irregularities.

Most people have no idea to govern.

What we are witnessing is emergency life saving actions for this republic.
if you truly looked at what has become of opportunity in this country, you might just recognize that we’ve all been supporting the past 60 years is a systematic attack on the American Experiment.
The reality is that we live in a world where the goverNments and corporations are both consolidating their power and control over our everyday lives…when we look at the changes, day to day, it’s hardly recognizable, but when the youth have so little opportunity for home ownership, you have to question the sheer exchange of life force to maintain your position.
i think it’s so important to pull the scab off the sheer theft and corruption that’s passed for governance the past 60 years.

the only question any person with a relative honest moral compass can ask…

how did we allow ourselves to be governed by such immoral behavior.

this should be a huge wake up call for everyone who understands just how responsible we All are for letting it get this bad.
we cannot take all the responsibility, as individuals, but each of us will need to reevaluate why we have been conditioned to accept poverty homelessness open drug use, crime in our society, while the management class keeps taking.

we should be angry.

we are all responsible for this.

Free from the incessant Pelosi flags, finally free from the jealous whispers of all the lesbanesian carpenters and correctional officers and firefighters they allow in there making snide comments about my reps and tight holding gel. Where else can a MAN find a worthy sidekick in the fight against Tyronery??!!

Maverick, I’m relieved to see that despite the brutal oppression of Pelosi flags and “lesbanesian carpenters,” you’ve still found sanctuary in the hallowed, misty depths of the gym locker room. A true bastion of masculinity, where men do man things like exist and observe in the steam. Your noble quest to preserve the last great frontier of towel-whipping and rep-counting is noted.

However, let’s try to keep the valiant defense of clearly gendered locker rooms just a touch less…sensory. We wouldn’t want anyone confusing the sacred cause with an audition for a romance novel. And while satire is welcome, let’s keep it aimed at ideas rather than fellow commenters.

Yes, no sane person wants a man in the same bathroom as their wife or daughter

Public restroom policies vary, but laws protecting transgender individuals’ right to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity have not led to an increase in safety threats. Multiple studies and law enforcement reports show no correlation between inclusive restroom policies and increased incidents of assault or harassment.

Meanwhile, transgender people themselves face high rates of harassment and violence in public restrooms. Many laws allowing bathroom access for trans individuals are aimed at preventing discrimination, not creating risks.

If safety is the real concern, then focusing on actual threats—like enforcing laws against assault and harassment—makes more sense than targeting a vulnerable group that statistically poses no greater danger. https://www.4vawa.org/

“right to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity” – They have all the same rights to use the bathroom of their birth gender, not whatever they choose to feel at the moment. You’re opening a serious can of worms (no pun intended) if how one “feels” allows you to select a public restroom.
“targeting a vulnerable group that statistically poses no greater danger.” – Talk about an evasion of reality. The issue isn’t necessarily that the average MtF transgender (in reality a confused homosexual male) is going to prey on women, we’re all aware that such is not likely. The PROBLEM is that when you go from an OBJECTIVE definitions (does the individual have male or female genitalia?) to a SUBJECTIVE definition – and remember, we now not only have people claiming to be MtF but “gender fluid” as well. How do YOU determine who gets access to the women’s restroom? By what the person claims to be? By the way a person dresses?
To be blunt: How do you physically or legally stop a HETEROSEXUAL MALE PREDATOR from accessing the ladies room in a public space, if that person claims to be a “female” at that point in the space-time continuum? Here’s the HUGE legal problem that YOU are going to create here. First of all, you have now just blurred any sensible, generally accepted criteria of who has access. If you make the decision that a person claiming to be a woman is not such and deny access, you’re going to set yourself up as a target for bottom-feeding lawyers looking for a payout. OTOH, if you just let anyone in and a woman is sexually assaulted by a male, you open yourself up to lawsuits as well for not providing reasonable accommodation and protection for females. And don’t be surprised if it’s the same pool of lawyers playing both sides of the fence either. Trial lawyers are one of the biggest contributors to the Democrat Party, they LOVE this type of nonsense and THRIVE on it, just as trial lawyers find ways to abuse ADA, DEI and a bunch of other misguided initiatives.
You know what will happen in the end? Public agencies AND private companies will respond the way they always do when their OWN lawyers advise them to minimize the legal liability by CLOSING DOWN PUBLIC RESTROOMS. So NOW you have gone from a situation of having access to only one set of restrooms to NO restrooms at all. There’s a rule behind this, it’s called the LAW OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES. It is something that fiscal conservatives, bona fide classic liberals and libertarians understand quite easily, but is COMPLETELY lost of woke lefty progressives. Sort of the same way they don’t understand basic economics either…

This is the weirdest argument in the whole bathroom debate, to me. Do you think that sexual predators are just champing at the bit to access women’s restrooms so they can go about their raping, but… they have too much respect for bathroom policies?
But then you go on to up the ante by claiming that non gendered restrooms will create a legal situation (in fact, it’s an engineered legal problem created by Democrat donor lawyers!) where in all public bathrooms will be eliminated. This despite the fact that gender natural bathrooms already exist, and have for years and years. The only legal issues I’ve ever heard of with bathrooms are from conservative activists challenging a law or policy that explicitly authorizes people to use the bathroom that aligns with their outward presentation. So maybe it’s an insidious plot by conservative legal firms to drum up business?

And finally, I am unambiguously male. Always have been. There have been more than a few times in my life when I needed to use a rest room more urgently than waiting for the designated men’s room would allow. I have used the designated women’s restroom in those times. I never received any push back, no legal ramifications. It’s almost like, bathroom policies are set up to foster general comfort in one of our more private acts. But everyone understands that it’s also a context in which situations arise that transcend the loose social mores of the rounded hominids on the door. If you’re being respectful and handling your business and moving on, no one really cares.

If you’re being a weirdo in any bathroom, regardless of your gender or the expectations set by the door circle, then you’re a fucking weirdo and liable to face consequences. It’s really not that deep or complicated.

You honestly believe that the only thing stopping sexual predators from assaulting women in bathrooms is the hot dog lady in the triangle dress on the door?

What world do you live in?

Do you also believe that the “gun free zone” on the sign by the school keeps that crime at bay?

Maybe women should just carry around a women’s restroom sign with them, they could hold it up whenever a creepy dude approaches them. Rape, solved. Great work joe!

The idea that rioters were simply “let into” the Capitol ignores overwhelming evidence, including security footage, officer testimony, and court convictions. While a handful of officers were seen in difficult moments appearing to step aside, that doesn’t erase the violent clashes at multiple entry points, where officers were beaten, pepper-sprayed, and overwhelmed.

Over 140 officers were injured that day—hardly the response you’d expect if they were welcoming people in. Additionally, numerous rioters were charged with assaulting law enforcement, carrying weapons, and breaking through barricades.

If the doors were just politely opened, why were there shattered windows, broken-down doors, and emergency evacuations?

violent clashes at multiple entry points” – Sounds more like the various BLM “peaceful demonstrations” like the one we had here in La Mesa where BLM was assisted by their allies Antifa and the Revolutionary Communist Party (Bob Avakian’s old Maoist outfit from LA) that smashed windows of police cars then burned and looted a supermarket and 3 other stores down here in La Mesa. How many pairs of Air Jordans, 40s of Four Loko, and 5-packs of Swisher Sweets were stolen on 1/6? How many buildings burned down during that event? Looking forward to comparing notes, Kym. :O)

Our prison system is unfortunately famous for its excessive use of solitary confinement and reports of guard abuse. And yes, at least one January 6 defendant, John Strand, said he spent four months in solitary confinement simply for helping other defendants connect with outside support groups. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/jul/29/john-strand-jan-6-defendant-said-he-endured-four-m/?utm_source=chatgpt.com I’d like to see more reporting on this.

And the Supreme Court ruled that federal prosecutors improperly charged hundreds of January 6 rioters with obstruction. https://www.bu.edu/articles/2024/supreme-court-rules-for-january-6-rioter-in-obstruction-of-justice-case/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Enrique Tarrio, while some view him as a protector of rally attendees, was convicted of seditious conspiracy related to the January 6 attack. He was among those pardoned by President Trump on January 20.

Nevertheless, it is important recognize that numerous law enforcement officers were injured during the January 6 events. Members of Congress were threatened and had to flee for their lives. The foundation of our democracy was shaken badly. So, unsurprisingly to me, the severity of the attack led to significant legal actions against participants. If the repercussions against them bothers you, I hope it would also bother you if a Black Lives Matter protest had resulted in a similar number of injured officers in a single incident and they were sent to jail, I hope you would also be concerned with any injustice against those protestors.

The Officer Byrd’s statement as he described what led to his shooting Babbitt matches the account of a fellow member of the pro-Trump mob, Thomas Baranyi, who caught Babbitt as she fell back. Baranyi, who still had Babbitt’s blood on his hand when he spoke to a local news crew outside the Capitol minutes later, said that “a number of police and Secret Service were saying, ‘Get back, get down, get out of the way.’ She didn’t heed the call.”

Further evidence that Byrd’s warning was clear to those around Babbitt comes from graphic video of the shooting posted on Twitter less than 40 minutes after the event by another witness. Those images clearly show that Baranyi, who was wearing a backward blue Trump cap and standing close to Babbitt, raised his hand and nodded in Byrd’s direction to signal his compliance with the command to stay back. Three seconds later, Babbitt climbed into the window to cross the barricade and was shot. https://x.com/rise_images/status/1346915187245404165https://theintercept.com/2021/08/27/capitol-police-officer-shot-ashli-babbitt-insists-warn-opening-fire/

On this vide0 you can clearly see the gun and that she should have been able to see it. And multiple warnings that there is a gun are shouted: https://www.nbcnews.com/video/capitol-shooting-that-led-to-ashli-babbitt-s-death-captured-on-video-99180613572 Here’s the officer describing his perspective: Byrd said he had no knowledge that any officers were there. Because of the furniture stacked on his side of the door, he also couldn’t make out how many people were on the other side or whether they were carrying weapons.

“It was impossible for me to see what was on the other side,” he said.

But he did see the person now known to be Babbitt start coming through the broken glass.

“I could not fully see her hands or what was in the backpack or what the intentions are,” Byrd said. “But they had shown violence leading up to that point.”https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/officer-who-shot-ashli-babbitt-during-capitol-riot-breaks-silence-n1277736 “The investigation revealed no evidence to establish that, at the time the officer fired a single shot at Ms. Babbitt, the officer did not reasonably believe that it was necessary to do so in self-defense or in defense of the Members of Congress and others evacuating the House Chamber.”

They can both be wrong. Thousands of people were arrested and convicted for various things at various blm protests/riots in 2020. I don’t think any of them were pardoned.

Rioting at the capital during the official affirmation of the presidential vote while overtly stating your intent to stop the proceeding, openly threatening legislators, and ultimately vandalizing the building is also wrong. And even the most egregious actors were pardoned.

If you’re going to support the latter, I’d at least stay out of a moralizing approach to debate. You like an authoritarian approach when it’s a politician you support, just own it. Hopefully it’s because you earnestly believe it will work out best for the country and not just because you think it will cause harm to people you dislike.

Maybe you like them called BLM. Maybe you are delusional enough to think they were just “peaceful” protests. Maybe you are of the regular leftist position that if it’s a leftist cause, all violence and criminal behavior is OK. To me, I had good friends and relatives in law enforcement whose lives were threatened by these thugs. So no, calling it the liberal terrorist network is not at all stupid shit. The stupid shit is the leftists that refuse to live like civilized human beings instead of resorting to violence every time they don’t get their way. And yes, anyone who actually committed acts of violence on J6 were in the wrong. However, there was never equal prosecution of the BLM rioters. Most were just let go like the terrorist groups that went around the universities and destroyed campuses with even the support of deranged “professors.”

I shiver with dread thinking back to those dark days. The Antifa hoards amassing in Ashland, and the Applegate..sneaking busses in through Happy camp. We fascists didn’t know what dawn would bring. Packing the children and wives into the Duramax, and Econolines…We didn’t have a Tesla truck back then. We felt vulnerable. Turns out they don’t fit as many wives as you’d expect. Stop at Costco to load up the toy hauler with tp and burger buns. You had to keep your head on a swivel. Constantly having to pull that Fauci face diaper down to sniff out trouble…Fully expecting to have to ram through the BLM barricades on 101…Praying we’d make it through the night to reach the AZ border. Or at least the sanctuary of a refugee camp at Glamis. I don’t know how we made it through. This is the kind of trauma our little hometown fascists have to deal with every day now.

Dear Democrats
It’s only been a month. Does it feel like it’s been a year? If it does, perhaps you’ll find some comfort knowing that means President Trump’s four-year term will feel like 48 years for you. If that doesn’t ease your anxiety, remember back to when you thought he was going to prison. I hope that was helpful.
Have a nice day!

Actually, most of us who did NOT vote for Biden didn’t make 10% of the fuss that the TDS loonies are making. We stated our positions, then got up and went to work the next day. We didn’t threaten to leave the country or even protest (the 1/6 crowd was a small group, I certainly didn’t join or support them).

Kym Kemp

That’s an interesting take. I seem to remember quite a bit of outrage when Trump lost—calls for audits, claims of a stolen election, and months of media personalities saying Biden wasn’t legitimate. Are you saying all of that was just noise from a small group and that most Trump voters calmly accepted the results and moved on? Because that doesn’t really line up with how things played out.

And just curious—since you claim you didn’t support 1/6, do you think Trump played a role in stirring people up that day, or was it all just ‘a few over-the-top kooks’ acting independently?

Whatever anyone thinks about all these people getting out there and protesting, I think the main critique that can be leveled here is that, as expected, there’s absolutely no focus. Everybody’s got their little pet agenda, be it trans, BLM, abortion, “anti-fascism,” Orange Man bad, Elon bad, ad nauseum. It was what caused Occupy to eventually fold–well, besides hordes of Cossacks showing up in the middle of the night and clearing ’em out.

no that ain’t right. they were playing an intentional mind game to make enough people see it the way your seeing it, just enough that there isnt a groundswell of reaction.
look up a thing called Cambridge Analytica. that one broke up but ill bet my doughnuts there is another one working in its absence. look at what they do and how they do it, and that Steve Banon and somebody else from their sewer ratpack was neck deep in that.
Jan 6th was an insurrection led by the guy who lost the election. once he got back, they are moving on us for real.
truth is subject to his interpretation of it. his press girl says they decide what is true. Cutting the reporters off over the gulf of mexico is a test run. a softening blow in a large scale Manchurian event.
The first time Trump was kinda soft as dicktaters go. But he got mad and escalated to violently grabbing back the whitehouse. He thinks it’s ok to take things when people wont give something to him. And he committed real actual crimes and made enough people mad, they were really prosecuting him. stollen documents and the insurrection. He would be headed to prison if he had lost the election.
He happens to look mighty tired. He’s got Musk overpowering him and taking the reins of the treasury in his bare hands. At least that is what that looked like in that meeting the other day. Trump was just sititng there, it was weird. Trump kept saying dementia joe. well everything they say is a tell. and you see how tired he is most of thetime. he has got it together enough to kick musk out if he wants to, but he also is probably not really tracking all that is going on. like how the nuclear people got accidentally fired.
as far as musk is to save us from waste. no, check it out man
for one thing, the guy has government contracts in the billions of dollars so he cannt be the one to decide. that is crazy.
then Musk and his crew are not efficiency experts looking at how to get bang for the buck. Those boys in there are not bean counters looking for theft, or the cost of getting wheat to hungry kids in Africa. they are programmers who uploaded all kinds of secret info, including your mine and everydamned body’s social security numbers, to the spy world to read.
When they went into the Treasury, they broke the country. They physically pushed in and took the building over. And they uploaded the info. I dont got words for how serious it is.
theres people out there saying stupid stuff like blaming trump for a plane crash in toronto. for crying out loud. i wish they could stay focused on the treasury. i wish general milley would come out and give some advice.

Some more information: “The average year-over-year inflation rate under Joe Biden was 4.95%. Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act in 2021, a $1.9 trillion stimulus package to help the country recover from COVID-19. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic recovery and the soaring gas prices after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, inflation rose to record levels not seen since the 1980s… Inflation peaked at 9.1% year-over-year in June 2022, the highest increase in 40 years. The Fed responded by raising interest rates 11 times since March 2022 in an attempt to cool the stubborn inflation. While inflation did come down from its 2022 peak in 2023, it remained above the Fed’s 2% target for his term. In September 2024, the Fed made its first rate cut in four years.” https://www.investopedia.com/us-inflation-rate-by-president-8546447

Kym, i work in finance i am well aware of the basic economics the lead to inflation. Supply chains were shut, interest rates were dropped and liquidity was pumped into the system, leading to the worst inflation in nearly 50 years. Many goods and services have doubled in price since 2020.
5% (which is likely an underestimation) is a very high rate and for jebs to claim “falling inflation was cool”, its like saying “Trumps pro abortion stance is pretty cool”, its a contradiction.
The inflation rate was already at 8.5% when Russia invaded Ukraine and peaked at 9% a few months later, blaming it on Russia just isnt tenable.
The lies and the misinformation about inflation (and most economic related issues) coming from the left is one of the main reasons i have been pushed more towards the right in the past few years.

Your comment doesn’t make sense. While I agree that supply chain shortages caused by pandemic lockdowns and infusions of massive amounts liquidity into the system were largely the causes of inflation, interest rate cuts reduced inflation.
Health officials throughout the world agreed that lock downs were necessary and both economists and politicians from both parties agreed that cash infusions into the economy were necessary. Biden or the Dems weren’t responsible for inflation.
I wasn’t a fan of Biden but he and the Fed actually did a good job of reducing inflation.

I have no problem with those people expressing their beliefs and opinions, but if you are going to protest claiming you know what is best for society, at least have something other than hate to support your stance.

Isn’t the true story about the millions and billions of questionable waste that is being found in government spendings? The claims that these waste, fraudulent expenses, and money to force our beliefs and behavior onto other countries are strictly only effecting children, veterans, and lower income needs to be supported by facts, not accusations only.

I personally believe our government needs to be audited. There should be more transparency on spending and in the long run that will make more funds available for our needy here in our own country.

Democrat leaders voice fear and threats the loudest, claiming the rich are the beneficiaries of these audits. Yet these same democrat leaders are worth millions on “public servant pay”. Have them open up their finances and show where their riches are coming from. Many Legislative members, on both sides of the parties, profited off the COVID pandemic.

Government is finally being placed in the spot light and being held accountable for their actions. Isn’t that what we want? Instead of seeing signs demanding accountability, we see signs and calls of hate and division.

First, you should provide a source for that image. I don’t recall telling you that before so we’ll let it stand but please in the future tell us where you got your numbers.

Second, transparency and accountability in government spending should apply across the board—Democrats and Republicans alike. Singling out one party while ignoring the financial gains of others in office isn’t a call for fairness; it’s partisan cherry-picking. Trump for instance went from an estimated $6.8 billion as of January 2025.[2] to (after the launch of $Trump, his cryptocurrency) Axios estimates his net worth to be just under $64 billion currently. https://www.axios.com/2025/01/19/donald-trump-crypto-billionaire
Almost multiplied ten times in a month. I don’t think any other politician has ever made such a wealth grab let alone made one so quickly.

The claim that politicians amass wealth solely from their salaries ignores income from book deals, investments, and other legal avenues. If the concern is truly about financial ethics, then let’s push for stricter disclosure laws and independent audits for all lawmakers—not just the ones we disagree with.

And if government waste is the issue, let’s talk specifics. Broad accusations without evidence only fuel division, not solutions.

Wizard of Odds

No its not voluntary or fair when the coin has been distributed to a bunch of insiders before the launch, its fraud. There’s actually been a ton reveled about this in the last 48 hours, the same market makers that set up Trump & Melania coin set up Libra coin, which Javier Milei just got caught up in.
Plenty of videos surfacing of the DC crypto ball (2 days before the launch) where a bunch of grifters are telling everyone there to buy TRUMP coin before the public knows, that’s straight up insider fraud. This happening a few days after the SEC chair Gensler got fired is not a coincidence

“Singling out one party while ignoring the financial gains of others in office “ – We will believe you’re serious about that one when you can explain how people like Feinstein, Boxer, and Pelosi became wealthy on the salaries of public servants. Complain all you want about Trump and Musk but at least they brought their own money to the party. Tell us that people who pushed for CSHR and all the infrastructure spending weren’t related to spouses who were/are heavily involved in real estate and banking in this state. I Agree that everyone, regardless of party, should be scrutinized if their income exceeds their output. What do these people do to become multi millionaires? I agree that anyone opposed to transparency in government agencies is probably hiding something (though I’m very troubled by DOGE staff with no security checks that I am aware of having access to mine and the rest of the country’s private information). I have no objection to DOGE looking into fraud and holding wrongdoers accountable. I’m extremely frustrated by throwing something like Internews out with no evidence of wrongdoing and lots of evidence of money going to things I’m for–preventing Ebola for instance.

If you think Trump gives a shit about our poor people, why did he cut off money for food bank and lunches in schools as well as medicaid used by millions of folks. Any dollar saved is somehow going to end up in Trump or Musk’s pocket. Every government agency except the Pentagon is audited every year. There is a book called the Yellow Book that tells the auditors what they must do and how they must do it. Contact an agency, ask them if they have been audited and ask them to send you a copy. They are going to ask if they can send you a computer file instead because it costs a lot of money to send out 1000 page documents. And keep your computer on or keep a dictionary handy when you start reading the audit. If you are lucky, the first few pages will tell you all their findings and recommendations for the agency. Oh, and I notice your little tirade is directed at the Democrats only. You should look at the Republicans as well. Some of them have been there as while and they have established very comfortable nest eggs provided by corporate lobbyists and billionaires. This a system issue, not a party issue. Almost all of your legislators, Republican, Democrat or Independent are multimillionaires.

People wearing masks in 2025 have mental health issues… as do the people calling trump a nazi, while protesting alongside others who were calling for death to Israel a couple months ago.

I also don’t remember any of these Elon haters protesting George Soros’s influence on government the last 15 years? Why is that?

The only thing these people are “resisting” at this point is democracy and the will of their fellow citizens.

Are you suggesting that when Biden won both the popular and electoral vote in 2020, no Republicans protested?

The obsession with abortion – no longer a federal issue – just makes it clear that they are geriatric hippie holdovers. Heck, I’m over 60s and I’m even embarrassed by their inability to move beyond the past.

Or, they have daughters and granddaughters that would be/are affected. That might be a foreign concept for some I guess.
And you should pay more attention, it isn’t like it isn’t being introduced in Congress in one form or another.

Apparently you don’t get it. With the reversal of Roe V Wade, abortion is no longer a federal issue, it’s a state-by-state issue, so trying to bring it up as a federal issue is disingenuous, and the fact that Kamala Harris (supposedly an attorney by education) made this the primary focus of her election under the guise of “democracy” just was Exhibit A for her cluelessness on the issue. The hilarious part of this whole circus act is the fact that for years Democrats were in a state of hysteria that the Republicans were going to ban abortion at the federal level, the fact that such isn’t possible now without a constitutional amendment just makes it clear that the Dems count on low information voters as a crucial constituency.

Eastbay Kidd has a point…

One of the main sticking points, long championed by the pro abortion camp, is that…

…wait for it…

..a pregnancy isn’t ANYONE AT ALL’S BUSINESS, except for the pregnant mother’s…

So, anyone and everyone else needs to just stay out of it…

Unless one is a woman of child bearing years, that abortion would be specifically relevant to, it isn’t any businesses of “yours”, so, according to the pro abortionist, “mind your own business stance”, nobody else should be chiming in on it, and nobody else should get to vote on it…

Its pretty hypocritical to suggest that if it’s NOT your pregnancy, then it’s NOT appropriate for you to make decisions about whether or not SOMEONE ELSE gets an abortion…

…BUT…

…if it ISN’T an issue of your pregnancy, and/or couldn’t even possibly be, then SOMEHOW it IS appropriate for you to make decisions about whether or not someone else gets an abortion…???

In other words…

Going by and firmly adhering to established pro abortion, or even pro life, principles, standards and attitudes…
Its a bit absurd for anyone that isn’t a woman, isn’t pregnant, and/or isn’t otherwise fertile, to try and hypocritically campaign and/or vote for, or against, someone else’s abortion…

Being a vicarious activist “on behalf of” “other such women” even if they are ones relatives, if one is not, or is no longer, “in the game”, is a clear violation of their own, primary, “mind your own business” principles…

If the attitude is, “mind your own business”…
…well…

…by golly…

…wait for it…

…then, practice what you’re preaching, and mind your own damn business, not someone else’s business…

I’m a man, I can’t get pregnant, so, abortion is none of my business, and I need to stay out of it, right…???

So, just the same, abortion is not the business of anyone else that can’t get pregnant, male and/or female, or anyone in between, either, even though that is sure to ruffle some vicariously flapping feathers…

So, stay out of it, right…???

Or will we be applying a double standard by commencing to meddle in someone else’s affairs…???

Make up your minds…

Either a woman’s pregnancy IS everyone’s business, or it AIN’T…

It can’t go both ways…

Is it just her business, in your opinion, or, in your opinion, is it also your business, and/or mine, etc. …???

Yeah! Abortion obsessors. I was going to bring up how theyre always bringing up abortions. I thought gays marriage was going to end abortions. I was going to bring up how the libs are so obsessed with the transexsuals. They always bring up how gay it would be to be gender fluid. Don’t add gender fluid to your vehicle! Unless it’s one of those confused little hybrids.

So, Trump has demanded a staff reduction at the Bonneville Power Administration, the huge power operation in the PNW. The thing is, the BPA does NOT get federal monies. It is self-funded.

Keep in mind, the BPA sells electrical power to California, as well as Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and of course Washington and Oregon.

Can any of you rationalize this? Demanding a reduction of the workforce in an agency that doesn’t cost the federal government and losing the workforce, while seriously undermining the BPA, won’t save American taxpayers one GD cent. It’s beyond stupid.

The comment, the linked article and the allegations of that particular agency being “self funding” is sketchy. First those employees are paid by the government otherwise how could they be offered a buyout from the government? So maybe what the article means by “self funding” is that they sell more power than it costs them to make? Even if that is true, it does not mean they need to spend every dime they take in? It could be that they could have an excess to return to government coffers even if personnel do leave.
And it goes on to complain that “several of” the people who took the buyout had “mission critical” positions with “decades of institutional knowledge.” That means people who were going to be retiring shortly anyway.
Then the article indicates that they ”  anticipate another 350 to 400 probationary employees probationary” employees could be let go? That is 350 out of an employee pool of 3000? That means 10% percent of their employees are recently hired if they are still on probation? That goes back the allegations of that the Biden Administration went on a spending spree to expand government. Is there any Federal agency head ever going to refuse being given more funds? It does not mean they needed those funds. Those issues are never addressing in the press hand wringing articles that are frequently posted here.
It is really difficult to tease out numbers in these kinds articles. Either there is kvetching over the job losses or kvetching over the job increases, depending on political affiliation, without any hard analysis.
“In December, the U.S. added 33,000 government jobs, compared to an average of 37,000 government jobs added per month in 2024, the BLS reported on Friday… Biden has overseen a nearly 6% growth of the permanent federal workforce since he took office, according to Government Executive.” says this link https://www.msn.com/en-us/politics/government/biden-gives-america-one-last-economic-gift-more-gov-t-bureaucrats-than-ever-before/ar-BB1rhAbS but then, since no one is detailed, it is impossible to judge. People just assume whatever they want it to mean.

I think you might be the pot calling the kettle black. She didn’t call you stupid, though she probably should have. She points out an issue I have had with every Republican I have ever spoken to about politics. They make these grand sweeping statements that they do not support with evidence. I thought her argument was good and supported by a report that she had found. So, why is her post beyond stupid? Could it be that you just don’t support her argument because you do not want to do the hard work of finding evidence to support your views. One of the important points that she is making is that the Trump team knows shit about how government works. There is another example that was in the New York Times and the Washington Post today. When Trump and the Muskrat shut down the Department of Energy they did not know that agency is responsible for the caretaking of all things nuclear in the US, power plants, including those used by the Navy in their boats, storing nuclear materials and disseminating them to various users. That includes nuclear weapons as well. They keep track of our nuclear arsenals as well. This could have been a tragedy in the making. On the black market one could sell one of our devices for millions. It goes to show how little knowledge he who would be King and the billionaire Muskrat know about what they are doing. Real Kings do not usually make mistakes like this. And the information stolen by Musk and his idiots is irreplaceable and one day will find it’s way to Musk’s computers and we will be asking how did they find out all of this stuff about my life.

From WaPo:

President Donald Trump appointed Leland Dudek, a manager in charge of Social Security’s anti-fraud office, as acting commissioner while Frank Bisignano, the president’s nominee for permanent commissioner, is vetted by the Senate….

In selecting Dudek, Trump bypassed dozens of other senior executives who sat higher in the agency’s leadership hierarchy, touching off alarm in and around the agency, which has already faced years of budget and staffing difficulties.

“At this rate, they will break it. And they will break it fast, and there will be an interruption of benefits,” said Martin O’Malley, the Social Security commissioner under the Biden administration and a former Maryland governor.

“It’s a shame the chilling effect it has to disregard 120 senior executive service people,” O’Malley said. “To pick an acting commissioner that is not in the senior executive service sends a message that professional people should leave that beleaguered public agency.”

And:

The Social Security Administration’s records include all Social Security numbers, comprehensive medical records for those who have applied for disability benefits, bank information, earnings records and more, [Nancy Altman, president of Social Security Works,] said.

“There is no way to overstate how serious a breach this is,” she said.

A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong.

This is an absolutely perfect example of mass media distortion and insertion of “buzz words” or click bait as the new social media gurus call it. Those signs are all misrepresenting what is really going on, but you will not hear any of the good stuff from the mass media. Why?, because the vast majority of the mass media is all liberal slanted. The liberals say to have an open mind on issues, however they are the first to use terms that inflame the situation. Nazi???

These folks are out on holiday, mostly government workers, that the other working class does not get as a holiday. Interesting….the ones that are hard at work, that care about where their tax dollars go are the majority that voted for Trump. He won both the popular vote and the Electoral College vote. And…..he won all the swing states.

Now that should tell you liberals something, like the fact you are out of touch with what is important in this great country.

Wake the F up liberals, this is what the country voted for, get over it and do what you told all of us conservatives to do when Biden won, respect your president.

Trump has met with more world leaders in the first three weeks than Biden did in a full year. The DOGE has found millions, and soon to be trillions in money that was not being used properly. There were millions of people receiving Social Security checks that were over 110 years old….the head of Social Security just resigned over the weekend. $20 million was going to a hotel in New York city to house illegal immigrants, this was coming from FEMA, the agency in charge of sending money to people impacted by disasters! The folks in the south still are dealing with service issues after the last hurricane, but we can send millions to a hotel to house people who are here illegally!!! We cant even house our veterans. We have deported more than double what the previous administration deported in the same time period of criminally convicted illegal immigrants, some of which were gang members. Border crossings have dropped by 90% since Trump took office.

All great news for citizens that want to feel secure, and know their hard earned tax dollars are going to programs that benefit the citizens of this country.

Unhappy? That’s debatable—you might be able to guess their mood from a picture, but considering they’re protesting policies they disagree with, it would be odd if they were grinning like a car salesperson pitching their priciest model.

Ignorant? If tossing around terms like sovereignty, plutocracy, and imperialism counts as ignorance, then I’d say they’re doing just fine. Meanwhile, I’d just be happy if some commenters here could manage the correct form of your/you’re.

Only the billionaires DON’T pay taxes. The one percent who own 95% of the Country’s wealth. I doubt the crooked President and his flunky Musk have ever paid taxes.
