Single-Vehicle Collision on the Avenue of the Giants Allegedly Involved Sports Cars, Racing, and Redwood Trees

At approximately 5:36 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on State Route 254 (the Avenue of the Giants) near mile marker 42 north of Redcrest. A silver Toyota Supra crashed into a redwood tree, partially blocking the roadway.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Traffic Incident Information Page, three individuals are reported to be out of the vehicle safely. Initial reports indicate that no one has serious injuries, but fire and medical services were en route as a precautionary measure.

A witness at the scene stated that a red sports car had also been present, reportedly racing with the silver Toyota Supra prior to the crash. The CHP is in charge of investigating whether racing was actually a factor in the incident.
