Single-Vehicle Collision on the Avenue of the Giants Allegedly Involved Sports Cars, Racing, and Redwood Trees

Traffic collision, crash, wreck, feature iconAt approximately 5:36 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on State Route 254 (the Avenue of the Giants) near mile marker 42 north of Redcrest. A silver Toyota Supra crashed into a redwood tree, partially blocking the roadway.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Traffic Incident Information Page, three individuals are reported to be out of the vehicle safely. Initial reports indicate that no one has serious injuries, but fire and medical services were en route as a precautionary measure.

A witness at the scene stated that a red sports car had also been present, reportedly racing with the silver Toyota Supra prior to the crash. The CHP is in charge of investigating whether racing was actually a factor in the incident.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Oh I don’t know. In H.S. we got 8 in a 280Z. You find a way.

We need more Redwood trees like that. They do a better job of keeping our roadways safe.

Gosh, if you look closely, it says “BMW” all over…

Put it up on a rack, and get a flashlight…

I had a ’94 Supra Turbo, for 19 years. I know the difference between a Z4 and a Supra…

Some of us were around 30 years ago, and know a bit about Toyotas…

OH, and fast cars and idiots, make a bad combination…

I wish more of these idiots would crash. They make the roads unsafe for everyone and they all drive like ten year olds playing GTA for the first time. Around my neighborhood, they start in by 8 pm, racing up and down Rohnerville Road and I can sometimes hear them doing donuts on the side streets. Every morning, there’s always new skid marks on the streets. Where Fortuna PD is is anyone’s guess… they’re probably scared of the assholes.
