Vehicle Crashes into Eureka House After Driver Falls Asleep

A pewter-colored Chevy Suburban crashed into a house on Henderson Friday morning.
A driver crashed into a house in the 800 block of West Henderson Street on Friday morning after falling asleep at the wheel, according to the Eureka Police Department and scanner traffic.
EPD said officers responded to a traffic collision in the area near Winco, where a vehicle collided with a house. One lane was closed while emergency crews worked the scene, and drivers were asked to avoid the area and expect delays.

According to scanner traffic, the male driver told first responders he fell asleep while driving, causing him to go through a garden and a fence before hitting the house. He was transported to the hospital.
In its post about the crash, EPD also asked residents to weigh in on traffic safety in the city.

No further details on the driver’s condition or the extent of damage to the house have been released.
