California State Association of Counties Responds to Threats of Funding Cuts to Local Government

Press release from the California State Association of Counties:

csaclogoIn response to remarks made by the Governor threatening to cut local government funding for not clearing homeless encampments aggressively enough, the California State Association of Counties issued the following statement:

“California’s counties are – and have been – doing the hard work in our communities to address homelessness.

“Day in and day out, we are on the front lines, working tirelessly providing treatment and care to vulnerable Californians. This work is challenging and unrelenting, but it is focused on achieving meaningful progress on the ground.  Every. Single. Day.

“Threatening to withhold funding is not a solution; it only jeopardizes the progress we’ve made and simply ensures more residents remain homeless. To affect real change, sustained and coordinated efforts and support across all levels of government are needed.

“We all agree progress must continue. It is simply the right thing to do.”

A self-serving statement worthy of Gavin the Grandstander himself!

The only real concern is the potential loss of funding.

Yes, they are only worried about loosing funding.
I’m happy that Gavin is turning up the heat on county governments who would rather serve vagrants than serve established residents of the county.
Hopefully California can reclaim its urban public spaces from the ubiquitous street shufflers bringing down the morale across America

It’s not even confined to urban areas. Gville/Redway has a high number of homeless.

I saw the article on a fish pass through culvert being installed under 14th(?) Street in Eureka. Immediately the idea occurred that sending spawning salmon through Eureka green belts is going to be a fishing opportunity for many homeless camps.

I consider Redway and garberville urban.
They have public water and sewer services, but I get your drift

You don’t have a chance as long as the gov allows drug dealers to sell thier poison with no consequences. Look at Ryan Coons 2 times last year he was busted with pounds of meth and fentanyl and he is out on the streets again. That’s just one of the demons.

It seems that State Administration has decided to treat the social ills they do so much to create by threatening those they forced to tolerate it into creating programs the State refuses to fund directly. When did the infamously touted social democracy become so routinely tyrannical? Prisons, affordable housing now homelessness. All too expensive for the State so they legislate Counties to pay.

the term i believe is ‘mandate it’, this requires something, but doesn’t fund it.
