You can stay in your house if you want to be an idiot but you can not come and go on the roads, that’s the main thing they don’t want you doing.

Selfish.
This risks putting other people in danger if they have to come rescue you.

No one is asking for anyone to rescue anyone. A man has a right to decide what battles and when. Deciding rather to fight than to flee is every mans right , simply because more men today wish to flee than to fight does not mean everyman must flee.
they say that the greatest generation was that of our fathers and grand fathers , the ones that fought ww2 and returned to battle a great depression . Those men built most of the world that we know today the bridges the roads the parks the trails the dams , we somehow went from a nation where men where heroes to today where first responders stage blocks away what someone is bleeding out , because of fear. Yes there are many dangerous things out in the real world and there are dangerous people with evil intentions however they have always been around back then just as today yet real men address their fears prepare to react and charge headfirst into that building to save that life that is bleeding out without staging waiting to swat to declare a building clear . There has somewhere somehow a change from where fears were something people confronted and defeated to a pattern where fear is allowed to control fear rational or not is something to be defeated how are people supposed to look up to anyone when all around us people are being controlled by fear.
i refuse to be controlled by fear or anything or anyone else i am a free man born into a world and a nation that says i am supposed to be allowed to live my life on my terms . How dare you or anyone else that allows fear to control them attempt to judge me or keep me from living and dieing on my terms . Who are you and what right do you have to decide for me how to live ?

Ok, you can be a “real man” and take a forest fire on by yourself. I am a first responder. I’m not putting myself at risk to rescue some dumbass who thinks he’s a tough guy.

Guess what first responder , i was a first responder for over 20 years, i have been stabbed stuck shot blown up ran over crawled through burning houses without air searching for children till my lungs were so burnt every breath was so painful i thought about not taking it. But i did and i am still here . Some folks run toward gunshots most others run from them . I know which one i am and i am pretty sure your first responding is staging up till someone like me goes in and ensures it is all nice and safe for you to respond . Still trying to figure out how that is responding first rather than second or last . Maybe you should just refer to yourself as a responder

“i have been stabbed stuck shot blown up ran over crawled through burning houses without air searching for children till my lungs were so burnt”

Were you stabbed, shot, blown up, and run over at the same time? Or were these all separate incidents? Smells like…bullshit.

“Real men” think of others before themselves.
Fire fighters will divert resources to rescue you.
This not only puts their lives in danger, it shifts resources away from fighting the fire which jeopardizes your neighbors’ properties.
Pure selfishness.

Enjoy those tough guy action movies but you might try brushing up on history.

Contrary to your statement quoted below, the Great Depression preceded World War II.

“…our fathers and grand fathers , the ones that fought ww2 and returned to battle a Great Depression.”

First responders staging until it’s safe to enter an area has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with prudence.

No one used to shoot at firefighters or medics – staging until safe to enter was based on actual experience and recognition that when first responders become victims themselves the ability to help anyone is compromised.

How many commenter live rural!how many of you commenters have been thru a fire. People in Ruth probably will never evacuate again after2020s politically motivated arson. Which is the exact definition of terrorism.

Valid question- how many of you have been through evacuation? Location, weather, experience are all to be considered. Is there another way out e.g do you live on a river?
I will definitely use my brain if ever I’m told to evacuate again. Fear can be a healthy thing to keep you alive However panic is another thing that blocks your brain from thinking clearly and evaluating the situation.
I think in our situation they wanted the road clear and they used their drip torches after we all left. Partly our neighborhood survived because of the neighbor who stayed.

So I really should try to be constructive . If you live rural it would be smart to join our many volunteers fire departments. It allows you in and out some what your in the loop so to speak. And you know the area better. You also have valuable info on who needs help and where resources are.

Our community has been well educated. Some of us are too old to join the fire department but that doesn’t mean we aren’t doing anything or aren’t involved.

I should specify that 2020 there was a out of state crew kicked off the fire. After the capital hill thing you had to wonder if the mistakes that got repeated where actual mistakes

With, say, a safe underground bunker, why would anybody evacuate?
