A traffic collision involving a motorhome and a guardrail caused delays on US101 North this afternoon. The incident was reported to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at 12:41 PM on August 8, 2024.

The motorhome collided with a guardrail, resulting in debris scattered across the roadway. Fortunately, no one appears to have been injured seriously

Humboldt Towing was  dispatched to the scene to remove the motorhome, which was described as a Ford E35 dually on the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

The incident is still causing traffic delays two hours later as crews work to clear the vehicle from the rail..

Clearly, the motorhome DIDN’T stop until the guard rail was finished ripping it’s drive train apart!

Serious Homer Simpson moment. Just glad it didn’t roll.

Looks as though it lost a left rear tire. The photo seems to reveal a tire about 15 feet in front of the unit. Good job getting the unit out of #2 lane. What a basket of woe for this road warrior and family.

Some one’s vacation was derailed by that pesky guard rail. Pleased that the occupant(s) were not seriously injured.

I met a guardrail once and very quickly determined that I had no interest in meeting one again.
