With 3 fires in or community in one day sounds like we may have an arsonist. Night time makes it difficult to send in air tankers, but Cal Fire should immediately commit ground crews to halt the spread. Curious as to why Cal Fire waits for unpaid volunteers to respond and “size up” the fire for them. Our local volunteers deserve our support for putting their lives on the line whenever they are toned out no matter the time of day or weather, A quick response makes all the difference.

Yes, Leggett volunteers have been staffing for calfire these last couple weeks. Thankfully they have good equipment and were close by.

Well Leggett volunteers were the closest to the fire at the time. And they have been staffing calfire while calfire has been on a big fire else where.
And Leggett has some of the most up to date modern equipment.
Idk if your familiar with the area but its remote.

The fires were far apart, and both kinda remote. More likely is that there are more than one foolish, cavalier, or negligent people spread throughout the area.

It’s a waste of time and resources dispatching folks without knowing what’s needed to be dispatched.

Why send hand crews if it’s straight up and down like in the Trinities where plane/chopper access is the main route of attack?? Why send dozers if there’s no access??

Think before you type.

If you call it rude to attempt to educate ignorant folks who are better asking questions instead of voicing stupid statements, then so be it.

“Curious as to why Cal Fire waits for unpaid volunteers to respond and “size up” the fire for them.”

Possibly rhetorical, but maybe not.

Because by the time somebody responds, finds and assesses the situation and then calls other crews to respond that fire can go from half an acre to a 1000 acres.

It just seems that all you have to do is look at dry grass, trees, etc., and they start burning. I hope with all my heart that the 26-year-old man being transported to the hospital with burns will make a full recovery.
