CDPH Identifies Valley Fever Illness Among Attendees of Kern County Music Festival
Press release from CDPH:
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: CDPH is notifying Californians of Valley fever cases possibly associated with an outdoor music festival near Bakersfield, California. To date, CDPH has identified five patients with Valley fever who attended the festival; three were hospitalized. Valley fever is not contagious, meaning it cannot spread from one person or animal to another. Symptoms include cough, fever, fatigue, difficulty breathing, and chest pain.
SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), in partnership with local health departments, is investigating cases of Valley fever (also called coccidioidomycosis or “cocci”) that occurred among people who traveled through Kern County, California, to attend the outdoor music festival, Lightning in a Bottle. The festival was held May 22-27 at Buena Vista Lake, near the city of Bakersfield. More than 20,000 people from several California counties and possibly from other states and countries attended the festival.
To date, CDPH has identified five patients with Valley fever who attended the festival; three were hospitalized. Additional cases linked to attendance at the outdoor festival are possible.
Valley fever is an infectious disease caused by the Coccidioides fungus that grows in the soil and dirt in some areas of California. While most people exposed to this fungus do not develop Valley fever, the fungus can infect the lungs and cause respiratory symptoms, including cough, difficulty breathing, fever, and tiredness or fatigue. In rare cases, the Valley fever fungus can spread to other parts of the body and cause severe disease. Valley fever is not contagious, meaning it cannot spread from one person or animal to another. Past outbreaks of Valley fever have been associated with exposure to dust and dirt at outdoor events and jobsites where dirt was being disturbed in areas of California where Valley fever is common.
Valley fever is on the rise in California, with particularly high numbers of cases reported in 2023 and 2024 and is most common in the San Joaquin Valley and Central Coast areas of California.
WHAT ATTENDEES & VISITORS SHOULD DO: CDPH recommends that people who visited Kern County and are experiencing respiratory infection symptoms that have not improved or are lasting longer than a week should visit a healthcare provider and ask about possible Valley fever. Respiratory infection symptoms include cough, fever, fatigue, difficulty breathing, and chest pain. Be sure to mention attendance at the music festival or travel to Kern County where Valley fever is common.
Attendees can also visit the CDPH Valley fever survey website for more information and to share details about any illness.
WHAT HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS SHOULD DO: CDPH requests that healthcare providers evaluating patients with respiratory or other symptoms compatible with Valley fever ask about travel and consider Valley fever testing in patients who reported attendance at the Lightning in a Bottle music festival or traveled to Kern County in late May.
While the event occurred two months ago and mild cases of Valley fever might have already resolved, other patients with more long-term or severe disease may still be symptomatic or undiagnosed. Healthcare providers based in regions that are low-incidence or non-endemic for Valley fever may consult the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or CDPH websites for guidance and testing recommendations for Valley fever. Specific laboratory testing for Valley fever is required for accurate diagnosis.
Please note that healthcare providers should also consider asking all patients with Valley fever-compatible symptoms about any residence, work, or travel in areas in California where Valley fever is common.
Local and state health departments should notify CDPH of Valley fever cases among attendees of this music festival.

Best reason not to go to Bako I can think of…
You need a reason to avoid Bakersfield? It seems to be the one place in California that everyone considers a shit hole and agrees to badmouth. I’ve only been there once (an overnight while traveling). It didn’t seem worse than plenty of other places. It is a roughneck town (oil fields), and is probably an easy place to get your ass kicked (a fuck around and find out kind of place). I wouldn’t enjoy the weather and I don’t like cities (even small ones).
A lot of good music came out of Bakersfield. Buck Owens and Merle Haggard for examples.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakersfield_sound
Also many truckloads of Turkey shit used all over Humboldt to grow the best Sinsemilla in the world!
Not to mention The Rolling Stones “The Girl With Far Away Eyes”-
“I was driving home through Bakersfield early one Sunday morning….”
Grateful Dead – 1/14/78 – Bakersfield Civic Auditorium – Bakersfield, CA

‘Dust in the wind’
Went to Kern County offices to do some paperwork. Very friendly, helpful people in office. While waiting in line office help came out to look over my paperwork to be sure all was ready to go. It’s a friendly hard working town. Sheriff Youngblood is a real deal law officer. Good town for men’s and women’s wrestling. Weather and agriculture smells can be less than ideal for sure. Big town with a small town feel. An interesting place is shark tooth hill by Oildale. Story is the Central Valley was an inland sea. As the sea dried up the last fish, sharks probably because they ate everything else, were left in a small area. Went there as a kid and found lots of sharks teeth.
It’s a boil on the butt of the world.
COVID is no longer a significant story… It is only the unvaccinated who will suffer and spread death…
The above item is about Coccidioides, which is a serious condition caused by the dust in Kern County… No vaccine…

“It is only the unvaccinated who will suffer and spread death…”
-POM-
……………………….
What a bizarre claim, not to mention a patently false statement, especially one coming from a self proclaimed member of the healthcare community.
If the “virus” SARS-COV-2 was so bad, in three years you wouldhave seen all the unshot persons die. Instead, we are seeing study after study showing that when you took the shots you now will suffer with myocardial damages and systemic inflammation throughout your body. Have fun suckers for believing both Trump and Biden and the ignorant prepped propaganda from the likes of Wollensky, Psaki, Fauci, Gates, Bloomberg, Tedros, Hotez….
Biggest con job in global history costing us trillions of dollars to roll out and now will destroy us from within for the trillions needed to give you medical care.
“If the virus was that dangerous, we would already all be dead”… Dr Shiman Chang, M.D., D.Sc., professor of Virology, Immunology, Medicine, UC Davis Medical School, circa 1979…
The same man liked to drink whiskey, smoke tobacco and play poker, and sometimes actually practiced medicine at the free clinic…
Can’t stick your head in the loam, but I vote to attempt to prevent a “preventable disease”, especially in children and elders, every time…
The above story is about Coccidioides, and Coccidiomycosis, caused by fungal spores from soil being inhaled, by farmworkers, prison inmates, and general residents of endemic areas…
It surprises me that an argument about COVID ensued, but you are all obviously bored and feeling reactive…
Hope you don’t get Coccidioides, as it’s hard to cure.
As for Bako, have you been there in Winter, when the sky is gray and choked with petroleum refining pollution?
There’s a reason why Bako residents retire to Graeagle and Plumas County…
And those Concrete Block Fences (bulletproof), the six-lane roads where everyone is going 85, and it’s ten miles to anywhere like, say, Winco or Taco Bell…
It’s not my style, but soon, California will all look like this, from Vallejo to Placerville, Stockton to Redding…
I hate Bako, but they do have good Mexican food there…
But no mention of this: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-07-29/covid-surging-in-california-as-virus-levels-in-sewage-near-two-year-summer-high
WHY??
(get back to work, slave)
Kind of expect that. Covid (with the variants) has now become a endemic (natural) virus.
Covid, and any of it’s mutations, will never be natural…
Because nobody is scared of it anymore and it doesn’t get the clicks..
C’mon, you really don’t think I would post something on COVID if a press release from CDPH came out? With our whole family serially getting it, we just had a month of COVID in our house.
Sometimes I wonder why people read my news at all if they think I’m an ass that is only concerned about the clicks.
COVID levels are high right now. BUT also, while it seems to evolved to be much more catchable, it’s not as deadly/intense as it was. During the peak of COVID, I would hear over the scanner several people a week, sometimes a day being taken to the hospital with reported serious symptoms from COVID. Currently, I’ve only heard one in the last month. But I know more people at one time with COVID (and I don’t mean just my family) with COVID than I’ve ever known before. But for most people, it’s just a cold now. The virus has evolved into something less dangerous and the vaccine as well as COVID having been in the population means that a lot of people get it less severely now as they already have some immunity.
Nobody in our unvaccinated house is sick, ever.
Knock on wood…
Nobody in our vaccinated house was sick until this July. I don’t think though that one family is the best sample size.
There IS NO IMMUNITY!
The ‘Vaxxed and relaxxed” are going to kill us all!
https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/25/15/8245
The sweeping under the rug of this SERIOUS BUT PREVENTABLE disease that shows NO CLEARANCE (see herpes, HIV, Epstien-Barr etc etc)…and I’m watching friends and community members come up with strange new health issues…or they just die suddenly!
Actuary reports are telling: our lives are shorter now…due to uncontrolled COVID infections and their sequelia.
Sad sad sad where Capitalism wins…cuz the line MUST GO UP
https://www.reddit.com/r/ZeroCovidCommunity/comments/1eg092v/my_covid_minimizer_friend_thinks_i_have_an/
During the peak of covid, I believe that cases of not just covid alone, but also especially co-infections of covid, RSV, and/ or influenza, contributed greatly to hospitalizations and deaths, (and associated scanner traffic), and those undiagnosed cases of covid co-infections were inappropriately attributed to cases of covid alone.
Covid, was primarily tested for and diagnosed, and so covid got all the noteriety, and therefore took all the blame…
( ..and consequently, unduly, caused all the fear…)
Since a positive covid test would forego any further testing for co infections with other viruses, like RSV and/or influenza, that lead to an inordinate fear of covid, without taking into account the increased severity of covid co-infections, due in no small part to the RSV and/or influenza aspects that went undiagnosed.
That the current covid outbreak is likely not co-occuring with other viral outbreaks at the moment, like RSV and /or influenza, that fact might be making covid alone appear to be much milder in comparison…
Add in the likelihood that covid has been allegedly mutating into less severe iterations of itself, and it would seem that covid is now MUCH less severe than when it tag teamed and or rat packed people with other viruses to do it’s worst.
I hope your family and friends are feeling much better now.
It seems like your family has dealt with much more than it’s fair share of covid…
Hopefully, that’s all behind you all now.
only the vaxxed are catching covid.
safe and effective (effective at what?)
Source?
Or did you just make that up?
It’s odd that you didn’t also ask POM for his source, after he
claimed without evidence that……
“It is only the unvaccinated who will suffer and spread death…”
……………………
Do you somehow find that more reasonable and acceptable…???
Unfortunately, the data that would show that, or not, has been discontinued, as it continued to move in the direction that
began to indicate that vaxxed individuals were suffering worse percentage infections, hospitalizations, and deaths, than unvaccinated individuals…
You ask for sources, but that paradox revealing information has been conveniently discontinued, before it could paint any worse of a picture for the vaccines than it already had…
Not saying the vaxx is the holy answer (cuz it’s not) it’s actually the DISEASE SARS-Cov2 that is causing the majority of the damages now.
I have a migraine and am sick of trying to warn others of our government’s complicity in our earlier than normal demise…the information is out there is you want to know…lots and lots of it.
Those that keep rabbiting on about ‘herd immunity’ and ‘immunity debt’ are just plain fools that aren’t keeping up with the data.
Covid is out there mutating with glee and y’all are the ones who are ‘sheep’…not those taking precautions.
Sorry about your migraine…
Have you tried using a wrapped ice pack or a cold/cool compress…???
My wife gets migraines real bad, and sometimes that works, or at least, it helps…
purely anecdotal observations ………. very obvious though.
All the folks i know who have had recurring covid issues are vaxxed up……..Not so for myself and folks I know that never got the vax.
Anecdotal observations is not how science works.
81% of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccination, so it’s only logical that they would make up a large share of current cases.
But, proportionally, unvaccinated people are much more likely to get COVID and, if they do, they are at much greater risk of a serious infection, of Long COVID, and of death from COVID than a vaccinated person.
Source?
Or did you just make that up?
It’s been posted endlessly. ?
Sheesh…
https://usafacts.org/visualizations/covid-vaccine-tracker-states/
Apparently common knowledge isn’t as common as it seems like it should be.
At last count, for April 1 2023, just before the data was concealed, world wide, the vaccinated covid deaths had risen to over 50% of unvaccinated covid deaths…
In fact, the vaccinated with bivalent booster covid deaths outnumbered the vaccinated without bivalent booster covid deaths 0.17 to 0.14, compared to 0.61 for the Unvaxxed covid deaths.
It’s important to consider that more people are vaccinated than unvaccinated, so it is statistically expected that a higher number of COVID-19 deaths may occur among vaccinated individuals simply because they make up a larger portion of the population. This doesn’t mean the vaccines are ineffective. In fact, data consistently show that vaccinated individuals, especially those with boosters, generally experience less severe outcomes compared to unvaccinated individuals. https://www.pennmedicine.org/news/news-releases/2024/january/analysis-covid-vaccine-strongly-effective-in-young-people
Just imagine a dodge ball game. If the circle is evenly divided between those wearing red shirts and those wearing black, then talent at dodging being equal, the ball is roughly equally likely to hit red as it is to hit black.
But if most of the shirts are red, then no matter how talented the red shirts are at dodging the ball, the ball is more likely to hit red shirted players than black shirted ones.
If there are 100 people in the circle and seventy of them are wearing red and thirty black–even if the thirty wearing black are really bad at dodging, more red shirts are likely to be hit. BUT not more proportionately. If seven red shirts and six black shirts are hit, proportionately, more black shirts are being hit.
Hey that’s a wonderful analogy Kym!
Just imagine the dodgeball game where they’re throwing needles with a vaccine at you and it’s the government on the other team. I dodged them. I win.
remember when a VACCINE gave you IMMUNITY?
Oh the good ole days!
We’ve had this discussion before.
I misspoke when I merely said “covid deaths”…
My bad.
I should have said “covid mortality rate”…
That’s what the graph shows…
“Mortality rate” suggests per one hundred thousand people…
Vaxxed or Unvaxxed.
The comparison compensates for the differences in Population vaxxed vs unvaxxed.
If you are trying to say that when there is hypothetically 100% vaccinated individuals, 100% of covid infections, hospitalizations, and deaths would all be vaccinated covid infections, hospitalizations and deaths, I get that, but that’s not where we are at…
All we need for a vaxxed vs unvaxxed mortality rate comparison, is 100,000 or more Unvaxxed individuals…
The graph shows a worldwide picture…
At a 75% vaccination rate, and 8 billion population, that leaves at least 2 billion Unvaxxed.
I don’t get your dodgeball scenario.
I, mean I do, but that’s not what the graph shows…
The graph shows the results after dividing the teams into equal numbers…
100,000 per team.
There teams actually…
the Unvaxxed, the vaccinated with bivalent booster, and the vaccinated without the bivalent booster.
0.61 covid mortality rate
0.17 covid mortality rate
and
0.14 covid mortality rate , respectively.
…….
Interesting that the with bivalent booster vaccinate mortality rate is greater than the without bivalent booster mortality rate.
But I do see where I made a mistake…
The combined vaccinated mortality rate would be 0.155, not 0.31…
0.31 would be for 2 teams, or 200, 000, not just 100,000…
So the rate for unvaccinated would be about 4 times higher, not just about 2 times higher…
Very careless of me.
I was wrong…
I regret the error
Thank you for providing evidence that vaccines work.
That may be true, but they do not come without considerable risk.
It’s just that some people don’t consider that.
Mitigating the effects of covid is not all that covid Vaccines are responsible for.
They have their detrimental downsides.
Most people just mindlessly ignore that, deny it, and/or pretend it isn’t true.
Really? What source verification for the data in USAFACTS.ORG?
GIGO.
See Dennis Rancourt. He deals with the stats.
Where are you finding the data you’re basing your claim on?
If the vaccine is effective then significantly less than 81% of infections should be in the vaccinated.
I don’t believe I suggested that 81% of the infections were in vaccinated people. Proportionally, vaccinated people make up a much smaller share of infections.
So do you have a recent data source for any of these claims?
Vaccines are effective at preventing and minimizing harm from COVID> https://www.pennmedicine.org/news/news-releases/2024/january/analysis-covid-vaccine-strongly-effective-in-young-people
That’s a study looking at the first round of vaccinated youth. The most recent data in it was almost 2 years ago amongst young children.
What’s going on currently? Is vaccination proving to be a valuable intervention?
It takes time for studies to happen. But studies are continually showing the same thing.
Please please please for the love of life itself, read this;

Fascinating. She’s interesting. Thank you.

“…unvaccinated individuals were between 1.6 and 7.2 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 compared to those who received at least one booster dose.”
“…unvaccinated individuals were between 1.8 and 3.9 times more likely to die from COVID-19 compared to those who received at least one booster dose.”
You don’t have to read too far between the lines to understand that “unvaccinated includes vaccinated with no boosters“
“…people who received the updated COVID-19 bivalent booster were 14 times less likely to die compared with those who received no vaccine. They were also three times less likely to die compared with those who received only the primary series…” https://www.ama-assn.org/delivering-care/public-health/why-covid-19-deaths-among-vaccinated-show-boosters-matter
Being vaccinated is safer than being unvaccinated.
Being fully vaccinated is safer than having only the primary shots.
It’s really not all that complicated- or controversial.
In most of the demographics in the study you shared being updated on vaccines was less safe than simply having the initial series
Thanks for sharing that.
It’s too bad they didn’t control for any other health conditions, like the ones that would correspond to being advised against vaccination as well as making one more susceptible to infection.
But it’s nice to see that even in the worst case scenario you have a vanishingly small chance of severe outcomes from infection. According that that study, unvaccinated senior citizens face a risk of covid hospitalization of 0.09% and death risk is an order of magnitude and more less.
Did you find any all cause mortality statistics by vaccine status?
death from Covid ? havent a laugh so hard since Kamala is our new Democratic possible president
You gotta stop drinking the kool-aid man. Stop watching MSM and that crazy lady Rachel Maddow and you will live longer.
Even she had to know what an idiot she was after finding out that the shots were never tested to prevent transmission.
Goes with the same insanity of believing the flu shots which, by their own VE annual reporting show mostly a less than 40% and lower prevention success. Better off with elderberry and getting your vitamin D.
I’m going to spend minimal time arguing with people who won’t provide facts, assert ridiculous claims under made up names and then most likely, judging from past behavior, will ignore facts presented to them. You’re wrong. Here’s just one respected study showing that.
“During the period of time in which the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus emerged and became dominant, the researchers found that adolescents (defined as patients who were 12-to 20-years old) who received the vaccine were approximately 98 percent less likely to be infected or have severe disease compared to those who did not receive it, with no evidence of increased cardiac complications or significant waning infection protection over the subsequent four months.
Vaccination proved strongly protective against the Omicron wave, albeit at a lower magnitude than during Delta. Among adolescents, those who were vaccinated were roughly 86 percent less likely to be infected compared to unvaccinated peers, and their protection against severe illness and ICU admission was similarly high, being approximately 85 and 91 percent less likely, respectively, than the unvaccinated.
Among children, (those who were 5-to-11 years old at the time of vaccination during Omicron), the protection against infection was 74 percent better than unvaccinated peers. Their comparative protection against severe illness and ICU admission stood at 76 and 85 percent, respectively.”

I would rather lick spit from somebody with Covid and go play in the dirt at Bakersfield. Sounds way more scary to me.
Than play in the dirt in Bakersfield. Opps
Hey, well that’s just like your opinion, mannnn. Joe and Kamala said they would never get the shot either. Joe blathered on about how it was unproven and only dummies take unproven experimental shots. Yes, he did say that! The only thing he has ever been right about in his entire life. Look up what they said. And ask yourself, were they wrong initially but later succumbed to the herd and got them anyway. Or were they just lying for political purposess at the time? In any case, the Wuhan virus was a bioweapon created with our funding in a Chinese lab. It manipulated the common cold virus to make it more lethal. So the folks who never got the shot and never got Wuhan are superhuman. I like that! I always knew I was special. Your welcome.
You forgot to include a link to either Biden or Harris saying they would never get vaccinated.
Without that, the next part of your comment is just you rambling on about something you made up…
and then it got even weirder.
That’s the point…it isn’t just my opinion. Study after study has shown that having the vaccine protects against COVID. That you think your opinion without any supporting facts is just as valid is beyond problematic.
Kym, that was well-said. Not sure why I am still surprised by all your readers that have invested years of research in the study of human viral diseases, without relying on advanced degrees in virology, molecular biology, bio cellular chemistry, and medicine, but there you have it. It’s a wonder why more MacArthur genius fellowships aren’t awarded to Humboldt, Mendo and Trinity residents.
and what are you doing to prevent a highly contagious virus that’s new to us?
let ‘er rip?
there’s so much drivel out there posing as good information and it’s tainted by COMMERCE CONCERNS and the GNP not LIVES for chrissake

You say so bubula. Lol.
So neat to see all the unexplained cancers in the shot up and multiple “I’m having Covid again” or “how come I just got sepsis” or “dying so suddenly”.
It was also curable in over 90% in 2020. Read The Real Anthony Fauci pp. 11-12.
They knew and decided that your therapy instead would be a solution they provided and, without discernment, you’d go to their early euthanasia slaughterhouse all on yer own.
YEP
I already mentioned that article…
I disagreed that” almost everybody has it”…
If that was truly the case, then why would they be pushing the vaccine…???
There would be no need for it, because if “almost everyone has it” like the media falsely portrays, then there would be natural “herd immunity” very soon…
Right…???
If almost everyone has it, then what good would vaccination do at this point, especially since the recommendation is, as I recall, NOT to get vaccinated shortly after an infection, asymptomatic or symptomatic…
As I recall, for up to a few months, an infection provides equal or greater protection, (immunity), against subsequent infection, than is provided to an uninfected individual by being vaccinated…
I find it a bit questionable, for the media to say that almost everybody has it, while simultaneously pushing for people to get vaccinated, since there is a contraindication of getting vaccinated, shortly after infection.
Media claiming that “almost every bodyhas it”, is a scare tactic.
I believe that it’s literally false.
Even if it’s true, which is dubious at best…
…but especially if true…
…using it to entice people to promptly get vaccinated, would be inappropriate, incorrect, medical advice, for, “almost everybody”, AFAIAC.
If true, “almost everybody”, should wait the recommended period of time, (…is it up to 3 months…???), after their infection resolves, before getting vaccinated, shouldn’t they…???
I’m no doctor, but that is my understanding…
This says there is immunity for 3 months after covid infection…
https://youtu.be/sXryAevuwD4?si=4Pf5BMLFnWRospCk
But there is a serious contradiction by the CDC saying that you can get vaccinated as soon as you recover from covid…
This serious contradiction should be properly cleared up.
Here is the contradiction
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/COVID-19.html
…”People with current COVID-19 infection should wait to get vaccinated until they have recovered from their illness and discontinued isolation.”…
………………………………………
(Is this being confused with the protocol for when to take the second dose of a two dose primary vaccine regimen if infected in the multi week period between the first and second dose …???)
This also says wait 3 months after infection before vaccination…
https://www.pennmedicine.org/coronavirus/vaccine/vaccine-faqs#:~:text=In%20general%2C%20it%20is%20recommended,a%20COVID%2D19%20vaccine%20dose.
“In general, it is recommended to wait at least 3 months after a COVID-19 infection before receiving a COVID-19 vaccine dose”….
….………………………
I think I will wait to get any further vaccinations, until they all get their stories straight…
(It will most likely never happen…)
Having COVID provides an immunity.
This eventually start to wane, but is pretty effective for a few months.
Getting vaccinated immediately after infection is kind of redundant- but not dangerous.
Waiting a few months after infection before getting vaccinated keeps your immunity levels higher for longer.
Source?
Or did you just make that up?
“Natural immunity provides some protection against reinfection with the virus, but vaccine-induced immunity offers even stronger protection. It’s why — even if you’ve had COVID-19 recently — you’ll want to get vaccinated eventually.”
“The CDC says you should wait at least two months since your last COVID vaccine. If you recently had a COVID infection, CDC says you may want to delay vaccination by up to three months, but also points out that you don’t need to wait that long — and some people shouldn’t.”
https://www.houstonmethodist.org/blog/articles/2021/aug/recovering-from-covid-19-how-soon-can-you-get-vaccinated/
https://www.health.com/vaccinated-after-covid-exposure-8422670
“Wait three to six months after a confirmed COVID infection to get vaccinated to get the most out of the vaccine.”
“…to get the most out of the vaccine.”
This is exactly what my comment said.
My comment said 3-6 months.
That’s not exactly what your comment said…
…your comment indicated 2-3 months…

My doc locally says there are lots of cases here, the numbers just arent being asked to be reported. Open Door system in general is seeing those patients.
Covid is the 4th leading cause of death in our country. Its not going away, its learning, as most viruses do.
Its not “un-natural” at all. Sars has been around for a very long time.
Most likely a raccon dog overwintered in a cave that had glacial melt that carried a form of this virus&it unfroze & became active again. Raccon dogs are sold for meat in the Wuhan marketplace. Only canine that hibernates! Pretty cool animal.
All sorts of things are coming back to life as the ice melts, its fascinating but intense. Most glacial scientists are not studying glaciers anymore as its pretty clear theyll be gone very soon.
Most are studying whats coming back to life in the melts. Lots of cool info online. Spirochetes thousands of years old are coming back strong.
There are many science folk who say its just as likely the coronavirus was from permafrost melt.
Look it up there are many news outlets who have reported on it. Am not a cnn fan but this articles pretty good…

The H5N2 bird flu will be here soon enough.
H5N1 is here but does not make you sick like N2.
Mtn Lions, walruses and polar bears have all been found dead from N1. It knows mammals now.
Next pandemics around the corner.
You think the Wuhan lab could have possibly been involved in any way ??
yep again
see Lymes as another expample
Music festivals are a public health risk, the data clearly indicates this.
Stay at home, save lives.
Wear masks in banks.
All is well , keep drinking the cool aid
Oh they’re gulping it down trying to justify accepting the infinite offering of shots and still getting sick as dogs. The mental gymnastics and endless reframing are remarkable.
And stats like this: “researchers found that adolescents (defined as patients who were 12-to 20-years old) who received the vaccine were approximately 98 percent less likely to be infected or have severe disease compared to those who did not receive it, with no evidence of increased cardiac complications or significant waning infection protection over the subsequent four months.” Say nothing! The risk for (healthy weight non diabetic) 2 to 20 year olds to experience infection or severe complication is already like .001 so 98% of basically zero is still zero. Who cares!!!. It’s not the 12 to 20 year olds that are at risk from infection or complications from covid. It’s obese people, type 2 diabetics, people with cancer, or people that already live in Care homes because of age or disability, the elderly and weak are always at most risk from viruses!
Bottom line: The vast majority—78%—of U.S. patients hospitalized with COVID-19 (vaxxed or not) were overweight or had obesity. The indulgent XXXL’S of any age remain at the head of the line to the coffin store from covid, it’s not 12 to 20 year olds. ?
But keep passing around that pro jab Kool-Aid.
The Truth makes an immediate impact- initially often anger. The lie- while more comforting- requires endless repetition.
There really is good info out there…but you DO have to dig to get past the narrative.

This article is about valley fever, not covid……
But it is an issue still and nobody wants to address it cuz we’ve killed the whole concept of ‘public health’ …individuals cannot take on systemic problems.

This is Jessica Wildfire’s blog entry for today
A boy watches his parents murdered in cold blood.
He never gets over it.
The lifelong grief that society frowns on became this boy’s superpower. Instead of letting it destroy him, he learns to harness it. As he matures, the neverending sense of loss becomes his driving force to fight corruption and injustice. In the best incarnations of Batman, he takes on corporate crime as well. He wins simply because he’s more relentless than the criminals he fights. He never stops.
Like us, he wears a mask.
The phrase “moral injury” comes to mind.
This term emerged from studies on trauma, specifically in veterans. In 1994, Jonathan Shay originally defined it as the “betrayal of what’s right, by a person who holds legitimate authority in a high stakes situation.” On a broader level, moral injury refers to the “psychological, social and spiritual impact of events involving betrayal or transgression of one’s own deeply held moral beliefs and values occurring in high stakes situations.” Moral injury happens when you betray your own code out of necessity, or someone else does it to you.
The first studies focused on veterans. Now research is showing that moral injury goes well beyond the battlefield. As Harold Koenig and Faten Al Zaben write, moral injury “has expanded…to include similar emotions experienced by healthcare professionals, first responders, and others experiencing moral emotions resulting from actions taken or observations made during traumatic events or circumstances.”
Koenig and Al Zaben trace the concept of moral injury all the way back to 416 BCE, when Euripides described his post-war trauma:
You see something similar in Shakespeare, when Lady Macbeth realizes she’ll never wash the blood off her hands.
Over the last several years, psychologists have developed an inventory of moral injury with up to 45 statements that participants can rank on a scale of 1-10. A few years ago, a team led by bioethics experts at Duke adapted the inventory for healthcare workers.
Here’s a summary of the statements you can rank:
These questions were designed for veterans and traumatized healthcare workers, but they speak to the circumstances we all find ourselves in now. If we don’t feel guilt over spreading disease, we see plenty of people who should but don’t. We see leaders of a coup walking around free, even running for public office, while peaceful protestors get prison sentences for trying to save the planet. Our leaders won’t ban assault weapons, but they’ll ban mask mandates and even masks. It’s abundantly clear we live in an unjust world.
Just like Euripedes wrote thousands of years ago, it feels like there’s no place high or low enough to escape this feeling. We’re not soaked in blood guilt. We’re soaked in a deep sense of betrayal and injury.
It’s with us all the time.
We carry it.
Research on moral injury so far promises recovery, suggesting that with enough therapy or counseling you can somehow readjust your moral compass and learn to live with the things you’ve seen and done. But they assume the trauma comes from discrete events, things that happened in the past.
What if the source of your moral injury never stops?
What if it’s ongoing?
Just like complex PTSD describes the more severe, likely permanent impact of chronic trauma, what we’re feeling looks more like chronic moral injury, an injury that never ends but simply accrues. It’s like the difference between getting stabbed once, and getting stabbed every day for going on five years, and the people stabbing you pretend they don’t have a knife.
After all, it’s not just the injury. It’s the gaslighting that goes along with it, and the insistence that somehow it’s our fault.
Beneath moral injury lies a sense of helplessness. We often feel helpless to watch our leaders destroy public health, democracy, and the planet itself. The celebrities who once offered us a distraction from the carnage now gleefully participate in it, spreading disease and spewing carbon into the sky, while threatening legal action against anyone who tries to stop them. The progressive politicians we once supported have chosen complicity.
I’m glad a term like moral injury exists, because anxiety and depression don’t begin to do justice to what we’re feeling. More often, these terms are simply used to dismiss and trivialize our experiences. They’re used to make it feel like we’re the ones responsible.
So, where do you fall on the moral injury scale?
How do you answer the questions?
The God item presents a little bit of a problem for atheists like me, but I can see what it’s getting at. There’s no god to punish us, but we all know the feeling that we’re living through some kind of weird simulation run by sadists who just want to see what we’ll do next. That’s a good analog.
As for the other questions, that would be a hard no on feeling like we can trust most people, including our leaders.
And yes, sometimes we feel like a failure for not doing better to protect ourselves or provide for our families.
It’s bigger than Covid.
If it feels like our social and economic systems are designed to make us fail and feel like failures, there’s plenty of evidence that’s true. It’s hard to dispute when the heads of companies like Pfizer actively celebrate our infections and describe them as growth opportunities. It’s hard to put the lies we were told in the past when our public health agencies are lying to us again, about another pandemic coming our way.
Kent Drescher describes moral injury as the “disruption in an individual’s confidence and expectations about one’s own or others’ motivation or capacity to behave in a just and ethical manner.”
Yeah, that’s taken a hit.
We can’t trust leaders who gaslight us daily about diseases while funding genocide, jailing climate protestors, and then posing for maskless photos with vulnerable and disabled people. That’s the daily injury, the continued negligence and denial by institutions we know are presiding over death while nurturing cultures of silence and complicity.
We can’t trust friends who practice and preach eugenics at us, telling us that if we die or develop permanent disability that it’s somehow part of a bigger divine plan. We can’t live easy in a world where ideas once widely condemned four years ago have become normalized on a disturbing level.
Yesterday, I was wondering when America would finally start building concentration camps for all their undesirable populations. Then I realized something. We already have concentration camps.
They’re called prisons.
We’re all morally injured.
Life in end stage capitalism, in all its genocidal eugenic horror, is a life of chronic sustained moral injury. There’s only one way to get through this, and that’s to devote ourselves to resistance and recovery.
Every day, we resist. We resist by doing what we know is the right thing. We resist by advocating and informing. We resist by telling the truth about the present and the past.
And then we recover.
There’s not going to be a permanent, lasting recovery in a world that inflicts moral injury on us every day. We have to spend a part of every day recovering the best we can, repairing our armor, and going again.
The only way to recover from moral injury is to fight it.
Bruce Wayne didn’t accept the crime and corruption that led to his parents’ death. He became Batman. If a billionaire can do it, so can we.
The only alternative is to give up. That would mean submitting to these eugenic healthcare policies, drinking down the lies, and celebrating a culture of denial, wishful thinking, and overconsumption.
That’s never gonna happen.
Furies: The spice must flow…
Author’s a good writer and astute observer of the Kali Yug condition. Where she’s coming up short is in attempting to affix her moral compass to a fallen world. There are two laws at play here; Law of Man (competition/ scarcity) which is so extensive it it keeps an entire industry employed arguing its merits and demerits and navigating its endless gaping holes, and the Law of the Universe (cooperation/ abundance) or Divine Law which is simple, intuitive, and makes immediate sense: All Life Is Sacred: Do No Harm.
One does not necessarily need a Vipassana practice or a Himalayan cave to- at least temporarily- know the mind of G-d; a psilocybin mushroom in silent solitude under the night sky will suffice.
