Carlson Park Improvements Project Will Begin in October
This is a press release from the City of Arcata:
The City of Arcata announced [recently] that the Carlson Park Improvements Project is currently planned to begin in mid-October.
The City of Arcata has contracted with Hooven & Co. for this project. Work for this project involves the installation of several new recreation features including preparation work for a playground, development of a picnic area, parking lot, special event space for hosting community events, ADA compliant restroom installation and pickle ball courts. In addition to the work that is contracted with Hooven & Co., development of Carlson Park throughout the next year will include trail improvements, establishing non- motorized boating river access, installation and surfacing of a river-themed playground and development of small skate features.
Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on some days the contractor may extend work hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. This project will be taking place at Carlson Park, located at the end of Carlson Park Drive, just north of Giuntoli Lane. Temporary road closures will occur during the hours of construction; however, pedestrian access should still be available throughout the project. Limitations to on-street parking adjacent to Carlson Park are to be expected.
If problems are encountered with this project, please contact Hooven & Co. at (707) 839-1291, or the City of Arcata at (707) 822-8184. Updates on construction progress and project plans can be viewed at cityofarcata.org.

What about the homeless encampments? The bicycle chop shop camp reported by Arcata PD and drug activity ? Can you safely leave your car and go on trails with your family ? This could be a great riverside park close to neighborhoods.
