This is a press release from the City of Arcata:

City of Arcata

The City of Arcata announced [recently] that the Terrace Avenue Improvement Project will break ground [this] week.

The City of Arcata has contracted with Hooven & Co. for this project. Work for this project involves improving Terrace Avenue by compaction grouting a failing section of the road, repaving a section of the roadway, removing an existing culvert and relocating an existing G.0 type drain inlet. Construction will generally take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On some days the contractor may extend work hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work will begin at Terrace Avenue on Tuesday, Oct. 10 and will continue through November, weather permitting.

If problems are encountered with this project, please contact Hooven & Co. at (707) 839-1291 or the City of Arcata at (707) 825-2128. Updates on construction progress and project plans can be viewed at cityofarcata.org.

How arcata can justify doing buisiness on indigenous peoples week is certainly amusing, and potentially inconsistent with their public posturing.
One would expect a city ordered economic shutdown to deify the others amongst us!
A week to pull messy and dangerous sidewalk weeds AND pay homage to people that don’t pull but pick weeds!

Pulling vs picking weeds, that’s good. A friend had come to our house and into our yard, quite overgrown by some neighbors’ standards. The friend, naively thinking they were doing good, pulled a Dandelion (not a false Dandelion, though we have those also) out of the ground, roots and all, then proceeded to smile awaiting thanks. My wife, the Witch she is, flew . . . off . . . the handle. The friend’s face went white. “WHAT THE [curses],” she exclaimed, “I just got that established.” She quickly, but delicately (didn’t know that action was possible), yanked the herb from the friend’s (now fast approaching acquaintance status) clutches and began repotting and watering the poor naked beneficial plant.

A rose by any other name . . . , but, even a Redwood is a weed if it’s growing where you don’t want it to grow. And a Dandelion may be someone’s morning tea.
