Two Tractor-Trailers Tangle on Highway 299
The eastbound lane of Highway 299 near Junction City is blocked due to an accident that occurred just after 11 a.m. today, between two semi-trucks.
According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information page, a fully loaded tractor trailer and an empty tractor trailer collided with one semi jack-knifed. The reported 80K pound loaded trailer is partially blocking the eastbound lane while the unloaded semi is fully blocking the eastbound lane. According to the log, fire personnel are directing traffic around the crash site. Caltrans QuickMap shows that highway traffic is slowed significantly due to the collision.
Initially, CHP reported that both parties were uninjured however that was later changed, stating one of those involved was complaining of pain and an ambulance was requested.
The log listed a disregard for hazmat, stating the tanker was intact with negative rupture.
Buddy’s Towing has been tasked with the removal of both semis which will likely be a lengthy recovery impacting traffic along Highway 299 in that area.
