[Update: Not as Reported] Report of Vegetation Fire on Dyerville Loop Road

Vegetation Fire feature iconA vegetation fire was reported in the area near the cross of Alderpoint Road and Dyerville Loop Road just before 6 p.m. on November 25.

Scanner traffic indicates that three fire vehicles are advancing to locate the fire, while additional resources will stage at the intersection of Dyersville Loop Road and Alderpoint Road.

We spoke with Supervisor Michelle Bushnell who stated that the fire could be seen from the Larabee Subdivision, east of Dyerville, earlier in the day. Activity earlier in the day was consistent with a burn pile.

We will keep you updated as fire personnel attempt to locate fire.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

Update 6:13 p.m.: Fire personnel are now on the scene of the vegetation fire. Crews staged at Dyerville Loop Road and Alderpoint Road are being released while those on scene continue to “investigate the fire”.

Yep. Smoke permits from NCUAQMD. Most burning doesn’t need an LE-500(?) From CalFire anymore, but the restrictions were lifted a few weeks ago after the rain. Use common sense if you are up on a windy ridge. Dry grass and forest duff will burn later in the day, but it’s been cold, and the sun is low.

That’s not a burn pile.

Either they lost control of the burn pile(s) or they intended to burn off a meadow.

Either way, I wouldn’t want the fire climbing into the oak the way the photo makes it seem.

Also a good idea to inform Cal-Fire of large-scale burns so resources and tax dollars don’t get spent unnecessarily.
