Video of Yesterday’s Damaging Fire at the Scotia Mill

Flames rolling out of the Scotia Mill’s conveyor belt yesterday. [Screenshot of a video by Austin Boryk]
We posted video and photos of the smoke rolling up from the scene at the time.

But, since then, other images and video have come out. This snip (warning strong language) below shows how dangerous the fire was.

We’re guessing that wasn’t a cheap piece of equipment.

IMHO: Conveyor belt caught on fire… probably from something ‘hung up’ on the spool or drive. Chip conveyor belts are usually made out of rubber with a fabric inner weaving.
That is the reason for the black smoke.
Unless it burned/twisted the conveyor belt supporting steel up (probably didn’t)… that is a reasonably priced fix.
I like the audio caption on the video…
Me too…bahahaha
maintenance schedule over due
Looks like a deferred maintenance failure.
