CAL FIRE Conducting Vegetation Management Projects This Week

CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit/Shasta County Fire Department personnel will be conducting prescribed burning operations at two locations in Shasta County as part of ongoing efforts to reduce wildfire risk, improve rangeland conditions, and provide valuable
training opportunities for firefighters.
Gore Ranch Vegetation Management Project (VMP)
Date: Tuesday, June 9, 2026 Location: Gore Ranch Address: 1910 Meadowbrook Drive, Redding Acres: Approximately 40 acres
Swede Creek Vegetation Management Project (VMP)
Date: Thursday, June 11, 2026
Location: Swede Creek VMP Address: Oak Run Road, approximately 7 miles east of Millville Acres: Approximately 584 acres
The objectives of these prescribed burns are to reduce hazardous fire fuels, improve range and forage conditions for livestock and wildlife, and provide valuable live-fire training for firefighters and fire line supervisors.
Burning operations will be conducted only when weather and fuel conditions meet strict prescription parameters that allow for safe and effective implementation. Smoke may be visible in the surrounding areas during and after burning operations. Residents are encouraged to use caution when traveling near the burn areas and should expect to see fire personnel and equipment operating in the vicinity.
