32-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Over Embankment Near Kneeland Road
Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On Aug. 30, 2020, at about 7:45 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center was contacted by a motorist regarding human remains located down an embankment at a turnout on Kneeland Road.
Sheriff’s deputies responded and located a deceased female, later identified as 32-year-old Tawny Deann James. James’ cause and manner of death are unknown at this time. An autopsy of James is scheduled for Thursday, September 3.
This is an active investigation. More information regarding this case will be released when available and appropriate.

It would be helpful to get a time frame on her disappearance because that road is a particularly popular place to dispose of more than bodies. It is not uncommon to see people doing something questionable in a turnout.
She left on Saturday night and never came home. Sunday night her body was found. They think she died early Sunday morning.

That’s what I was looking for. Why is it it’s so hard to find pictures of things of this nature when ANYONE is found (Beaten or deceased) I also remember a girl I read about under a car by a church in sunny brae I think. How can it hurt? Words but no pictures? Even of the location. Is there some law against it. I not computer savvy I hope I can find this again. Bless their hearts peace be upon them
I’m sorry to hear of this tragedy. Can you please tell me if this is the tawny that used to live in fortuna and has two little kids. A girl about 7 and (I think) a little boy as well? I used to work with her.
She has 3 children, 2 girls one boy. She was a very good friend of mine. Very good person, single parent and one of the strongest People I knew. She will be missed by many. R.I.P. 🙌
I’m so sorry for your loss. I think this may indeed be the tawny I know, she drove a big like Tahoe type of suburban for a while and used to work in the hills. My heart is broken for her children.
Kneeland road is very long. Which part of the road was she found by?
