Two Parcels and One Trespass Grow Eradicated in the Alderpoint Road Area Yesterday, Says MET

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Marijuana Enforcement Team METOn June 17, 2020, deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) served two search warrants to investigate illegal cannabis cultivation in the Blocksburg area. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Humboldt County Code Enforcement assisted in the service of the warrants.

Two parcels were investigated during the service of the warrant. One parcel did not possess the required county permit and state license to cultivate cannabis commercially. The second parcel did not possess the required state license to cultivate cannabis commercially.

During the service of the warrant at the first parcel, deputies eradicated approximately 1,983 growing cannabis plants. Deputies seized and destroyed approximately 246 pounds of cannabis bud and 36 pounds of cannabis shake. Deputies also located water diversion and water pollution violations at the parcel.

During the service of the warrant at the second parcel, deputies eradicated approximately 4,164 growing cannabis plants. Deputies seized and destroyed approximately 122 pounds of packaged cannabis bud, 75 pounds of concentrated cannabis oil, 28 pounds of marijuana keef, and 42 pounds of marijuana trim.

One subject was cited for charges of illegal cannabis cultivation, possession of cannabis for sales and child endangerment.

On June 17, deputies also assisted a property owner in the Blocksburg area with eradicating a trespass grow. Deputies eradicated approximately 3,712 growing cannabis plants and located one water obstruction violation.

Anyone with information about these cases or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.

We agree something!

Sometimes it seems like everything bad that happens between Gville and 36 gets blamed on AP.

The title on my computer right now at 11 pm says “Alderpoint Road Area.” The Alderpoint Road extends from Pratt Mountain to Bridgeville – at least 40 miles(?). “Blocksburg area” is probably what you meant to say. I see the press release does say Blocksburg.

Keep on keeping on Kym, your site is the first news I go to each day.

That seems like quite a lot, or am I just ignorant?

Child Endangerment is a bunch of crap. I went through that when I got raided a long time ago. Sorry to whomever has to go through that cause of a medicinal plant and federal lies. I am willing to donate some money for their legal support.

I’m thinking the child endangerment might have had to do with the manufacturing of the oil.

Agreed. Still not in favor of applying those charges they come with a lot of uneccessary bullshit. The stigma of some county officials will determine the severity of the actions from child protective sevices. In my case since it was early 90s it was brutal. The “Refer Madness” stigma was strong and top it off with a religious fanatic case worker and walla, I was fucked!

Child endangerment??? Can we get specifics there? Was that for the parcel that was permitted by the County?
Can we get an interview with the second parcel folks who had a County Permit but who were waiting on the state permit? Were they on a deadline per the weather/cultivation season? Did they think they could cultivate with a county permit? I heard it take 3 months to get your state permit once the County figures out their permit (any time of year), and the rules have not been very clear either.
A whole season lost is huge for a farmer too. It takes years and tens of thousands if not more to get a cannabis cultivation permit. If you figured out how to get a Humboldt county permit you should be able to grow. Doesnt the County want you to pay cultivation taxes based on the permit itself??? Its almost July, it’s an annual crop and we are in the middle of a pandemic and economic collapse.

Exactly and that’s why we need specifics. Its so convenient how the police get to just say really harmful things like this with virtually no oversight. Then someone without any awareness reads it and assumes “Oh it must be true if the government said it, cannabis farmers are threatening children’s lives, we need more enforcement, more abatements, more money going into police budgets (etc.).” I am so over the vilification of farmers.

Seriously, many “farmers” are not following ordinances, annoy their neighbors on the constant and have and still are making millions on the black market. Don’t feel sorry for these clowns when law enforcement catches up with them because they can’t complete simple paperwork.

Let me clear this up for those who have never grown anything in their lives…

1. Cannabis is an annual crop, as opposed to a perennial crop.

2. It’s almost July which means it’s too late to cultivate this crop for the year effectively. Farmers pay the same cultivation tax for the entire year regardless of what time of year they plant and if it’s the County’s fault it has taken years to get a permit.

3. We are in the middle of a pandemic and economic collapse- “what does that mean??” It means people are REALLY struggling, just like they were in the Great Depression-ever hear of the Great Depression? Before Prop 64 and the abatement program backyard gardeners were not struggling because they had 20 plants and food in their backyards to sustain themselves with (yes along with their “real jobs” your teachers your firefighters, your babysitters, etc. many of whom have no “real jobs” to go to right now). No stimulus or unemployment was needed once upon a time, just humbly growing ones own organic food and medicine and living simply.

Relying on these failing systems is a death sentence, and many of us rural folks know better. Why is this confusing?

What does having 20 plants and a job have to do with 1983 and 4164 plant grows. If you lose your job to the pandemic does it qualify you to grow 4164 plants.

It is not too late to grow a crop effectively. It’s not even July yet.
Get your paperwork done in a timely manner and you will have no break in the continuity of planting.

And yet the black market growers straight up continue to be overlooked, county is using a list of people still in process of permitting and trying to force them out to make room for the big investment out of area monies to take over the county. Pandemic hardships keep you from achieving fully permitted status? Don’t worry humboldt county will be sure to fuck you over and force you to sell what you’ve worked so hard for to pay their outrageous fines and fees, and if you can’t pay their bullshit fees they’ll just take your property and sell it to the highest bidding out of towner that wants a farm. Extortion at its finest

This is what happens in a Democrat ran state and counties, abuse of power!
Over regulation, over taxation, no representation, mom and pop farms as promised was a bold face lie, along with the promise to be growing by spring if you file for a permit by 12/31/2019 with Humboldt county. All lie’s. Humboldt county government is as corrupt as it gets. For those who are going say ,“but you got to have state too”, no dah. The state was originally handing them out but the counties got upset because they didn’t get to extort you first! Now I’m sure greedy California has come up to speed on the extortion rates!

Rag all you like about those damn Democrats, in every article, in every comment thread like you do, it doesn’t make it true.
Black market growers are being overlooked? Prove it. I know lots of permitted people, they aren’t experiencing any issues because they are completing their permit process in a timely manner.

Complete nonsense of course. The “local approval required before State approval has been in place (and enforced) since 1/1/2018”

Even the ‘Temp’ licenses originally handed out required local approval

It was probably on a large ranch, thousands of acres, which what most of the property is out that way. Sounds like the cops were there at the request of the owner.

From what I’ve seen it’s a cash business with no banks or very few willing to work with legal marijuana entities, haven’t heard of any distribution companies cutting cultivators checks? I know cccu has a pilot program for limited businesses locally but unaware of any others.

Estelle has fallen asleep at the wheel.
I reached out to her multiple times to help alleviate an issue with planning and Building regarding a legal permit and she did nothing.

Not once did she follow up with a phone call or email. She could careless about her constituents.

My son’s property was ABATED for a tresspass grow. He has been an absentee owner for over 7 years, living out of state. $10,000 dollar a day fines threatened. Lawyer fees add up. No word from the county for over 2 years about forgiveness or anything. And there was zero damage to land or waterways. No grading issues. Just an abandoned hoophouse.

Out of roughly 800 farms that had their Interim Permits last year, over half have had them suspended or eliminated. Get ready for the next round of extortion and broken promises to all those who got tripped up along the way. Tyler called it right. The County doesn’t care about it’s citizens, unless you are buddies with Rex or Estelle. Just give us your cash and you might get to keep growing (NOT). Abatements = extortion

Should have gone through the Permit process, it just takes a little paperwork, a few Diagrams, a little money and some patience and they could have been doing it right. And still if you were smart enough you would know their is ways around Track and Trace., but still make it look legal. Slide of hand, was always my favorite trick.
The paperwork is a little tedious but you can get through it, and don’t be scared about un-permitted buildings especially in rural areas, I was at first but thanks to a little help, I was shown that its not as bad as you think.. Class K a little tricky but cheaper then the alternative.
Props to Light Force Designs in Ukiah, they did my Cal-Fire and county Diagrams fast and without any needed revisions. And gave me a little direction.
Bottom line don’t walk the line,…

Good luck skirting the system after you have given them all your personal information and it’s on public record. You don’t think they’re gonna let you think your smart for a few years then circle back and eat you? You are naive. They always catch up with cheats, it’s super easy and you aren’t the first genius to come up with that idea.

There is so much complaining about Estelle Fennel. I don’t get it. I contacted her office to get some assistance with a problem when we were going through the “process”. She returned my call promptly , (as did Rex Bohn on another occasion). I found her to be extremely courteous and helpful. She promptly scheduled a meeting, listened to our concerns and assisted in reaching a compromise. Another grower friend and my neighboring farm all had the same experience. To me she seems to be all about helping the farmers get through the process but probably not the lazy, whining, entitled , black market , lawbreakers that are commonly posting on this site. Get with the program or stop complaining and get a real job. Your days of tax free illegal $ are coming to an end. That’s the reality of the situation. Getting a permit was not that difficult. It requires some brains, work , patience and stick-to-it-tiveness but we found it achievable, as did our friends and neighbors.
