Mendocino Officials Angry After 5th COVID Case Found to be State Prison Inmate Released Into Community After Being Exposed

Several Mendocino County public officials expressed dismay today after learning that a Chino state prison inmate was released after having been what Sheriff Matt Kendall termed as “a known contact to a COVID-19 infection.” The released man was supposed to go to Stanislaus County but instead traveled to a relative’s in the Ukiah area.

The inmate was placed on a 14 day quarantine of the 7th of April but the paperwork shows he was released on the 8th, the Sheriff said. The former inmate then traveled to Mendocino County. He was in the County for nearly a week before his whereabouts were learned.

The County made arrangements for the man to receive a COVID-19 test and that came back positive today. The man, however, is asymptomatic.

“I have some extreme concerns,” Sheriff Kendall said in the video below

Skip to time 2:30 for the beginning of this video.

https://www.facebook.com/mendocinocounty/videos/917221238692081/?t=60

The former inmate is believed to have visited stores in the area at least twice, according to an extensive article in the Mendocino Voice. But he is now under isolation orders. UPDATE: According to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Facebook post, “After the officers took all the necessary safety precautions, the fifth subject who tested positive for Covid-19 in Mendocino County was transported to a location where he could be better isolated. He will be monitored for a period of 14 days by Public Health, the Probation Office and Law Enforcement.”

The District Attorney’s Office issued this irate statement this evening,

…[P]lease be assured that the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, the Ukiah Police Department, the Adult Probation Department, and local Department of Public Health all acted as fast as is humanly possible when this unacceptable example of “state prison inmate dumping” came to light.

As used in this statement, the phrase “state prison inmate dumping” refers to the early release of inmates with known virus exposure to benefit the depopulation of a state prison facility at the cost of placing local public health across the state at risk.

Kudos to Sheriff Kendall, UPD Chief Wyatt, Chief Probation Officer Locatelli, Dr. Doohan, Dr. Flaherty, and the others who locally acted quickly and decisively to attempt to put an electronic monitoring fence around this CDCR-created problem.

In attempting to get answers, District Attorney Eyster and Sheriff Kendall requested a teleconference with the Governor Friday afternoon vis-à-vis the state prison policies that allowed this to happen and what state response Mendocino County could expect regarding this individual but apparently that request was denied or just not possible.

Which leaves glaring questions still to be answered — why is it appropriate to give a state prison inmate a health notice that he may have been exposed to the virus and must undergo a 14-day period of quarantine, but then early release that person the very next day with full knowledge that the quarantine period had not been successfully completed? What could possibly go wrong? And how many more virus-exposed inmates have also been granted early releases back into our communities in the state’s effort to depopulate its facilities?

people change. You can’t lock up a person forever for stealing a candy bar. You also forget the California innocence program exist for a reason. They only work cases that involve a life/death penalty case. So you can imagine how many people are out there who are truly innocent and will never see justice served to them. That ignorant train of thought is the reason we have overcrowding in our prison system.

Are we still going to pretend the government leaders care about us? They let him go to get rid of him so government workers didn’t have to be “at risk” not caring about the communities they were putting in danger. The governor had better get someone terminated from their job over this. It is called negligent liability and needs prompt action. If someone dies due to the exposure it is negligent homicide.

Unfortunately this isn’t a Hollywood movie we live in, with an omniscient, all powerful leader who can micro manage everything. The inmate was released by a system. A system of over worked jaded bureaucrats. The Governor can yell at somebody, change policies, fire somebody, perhaps, but he isn’t reviewing every single inmate release! I mean, I don’t really like Newsome, but wasn’t it one of his policies that were ignored in this case? Somebody in Parole, or Intake had a paperwork SNAFU.

One thing for sure, ignorance and irrational fear will not prevail.

Study continues, but it is beginning to be clear that the government was wrong, the economy and normal life are in chaos, and, that this virus is just another challenge to our disgracefully poor healthcare system. Many actions have been taken based on incorrect information, and misguided assumptions.

Please research what MRSA actually is. Study at least the basics of virology, before making assumptions.

The world is neither simple nor safe. Being fearful and reactive is non-constructive.

Here maybe, without many cases, or health care system can keep up (and bill you) but the big cities, and some outbreak spots like S Dakota are being challenged.
And to Rando, what are you talking about? Viruses, or MRSA? MRSA is a bacteria, are you trying to point out why it’s never a good idea to go to a hospital?

The health systems in South Dakota are not being challenged. Very few have been hospitalized and they have downgraded their projections of extra beds. They are also beginning voluntary clinical trials on treatment. The main outbreak was at a pork producing facility, which is considered national security because it is part of the food supply. If you want the real facts, listen to the Governor and health experts in their daily briefings to that state instead of the mainstream media that rarely produces all of the facts.

MRSA is indeed a bacteria, methicillin resistant staph aureus. Our next true pandemic that wipes us all out will not be a virus, it will be antibiotic resistant bacteria. Our medical teams who create antibiotics can barely keep ahead of the bacteria. We have gone from natural antibiotics, to semi-synthetic antibiotics, to fully synthetic antibiotics. The real scary one is VRSA, the Vancomyacin Resistant Staph, which is the antibiotic that treats MRSA. Only fully synthetic cocktails somewhat work and supportive care.

Time for a reality check. The communist party has its 1%. What it doesn’t have is a middle class which is replaced by the bureaucracy, which in turn, does the one percents bidding. You know, the same dynamic California democrats have pushed for the last 35 years. DeBlasio has railed against private property, supported the Sandinista communists, and supported that arch capitalist Hugo (the coke smuggler) Chavez. In the matter of comparing a meat company in South Dakota to NYC, I won’t waste my time. Here’s a summary from Harvard of Stalin’s wealth.

No. What Scooter said was that people who get their new from conservative outlets “are less concerned about the health risks to our community. ” There’s a whole lot of assumption there from assuming where people get their news to how concerned they are. The governor wants to push the population to revolt so he can enact Marshall Law. That’s why the prison’s are being depopulated. That’s why he is going to refuse to open California when the President says. Newsome wants to drive the economy into ruin, release prisoners to further the spread of the disease, and create general civil unrest until we are are financially broke and become unruly. Then he will be able to take what little we have left.

President Trump does have full authority. The one important fact that anyone fails to address was the caveat in States receiving federal aid in the face of this pandemic, ya know, the fine print. The print that said if states take the federal money they have given the President full authority. Did California take the Fed money? It sure did! Does that give President Trump full authority? Yes it does. Maybe Cali shouldn’t have taken the fed money if it wanted to play by its own rules.

Chump trump’s exhortations to states to prematurely “LIBERATE” themselves of medically sound restrictions has got be to the single most dangerous and outrageous thing this idiot has uttered during his entire “presidency”. With such a volley (and in such inflammatory style) he actually sounds like a lunatic and the fact that scads and scores of his supporters are rallying around his misguided encouragement is a woeful reminder of how many peabrain Conservative people there are out there who refuse to believe factual information–facts which when understood and accepted could protect their own families. Globilization killed America. If we want an exceptionally great country with minimum wages, workers protections, and environmenal protection, we cannot allow American industry to compete with oppressed workers from China. America should only trade with countries who has similar protections for people and land. We cannot maintain any sort of industry in America if we allow cheap goods produced with no respect for workers or land to undercut the American goods.

America needs it middle class. We need industry…it’s the base of the economy and where all the real goods come from. This time we had a shortage of masks because we don’t make them anymore. Next time it might be a real war and we won’t have the steel we need to defend ourselves.

Want manufacturing to come home? Stop being the policemen of the world. Stop subsidizing foreign markets. The last 100 years of US Military intervention has made it safe for manufacturing to leave our shores and ship goods back.

Let the foreign market bear the costs AND take the risks of overseas manufacturing. Let the manufactures and shippers bear the costs of protecting their factories and ships (oil included) in unstable parts of the world.

Defend American territory and not foreign territory. Then return the savings of a lower military budget to the taxpayer to offset the potentially higher costs.

Cheap goods are not really cheap when they have to be replaced in a fraction of the time a well made product does.

Cubans are still driving our old chevys.

Now think about all the recalls on airbags in our cars. Besides those nikes made for $5.00 in China still cost $150.00 in the USA. Then they are marketed to the poorest Americans as a must have item. That’s pretty expensive shipping & handling I’d say.

Stay in place ORDER. I think Order is a trigger word.
Voting adults give there children orders and we are not the governments children. Most of us reject living in a nanny state. Recommendations are adequate for responsible adults. Nor do they take kindly to fines, fees, or arrest threats.
People that are not responsible rarely obey orders anyway.

Common sense tells us we all want to protect ourselves and our friends and families.
We disagree on how and who to listen to.

Personally I want to keep all of my constitutional rights and not surrender any of them to fear. Nor do I intend to surrender them to politicians to use for their political gain.

Two point two million.
One hundred, two hundred thousand.
We are doing a good job.
40,000 ventilators, ridiculous.
I sent them Mercy, Comfort.
They didn’t need them.
Thousands of beds.
In Three days…
We moved them.
Hot spots.
Some states are in great shape.
Whiners.
When you’re the Captain and you have what they need.
No quid pro quo.
My favorite Movie.
We have the greatest military.
The greatest economy.
Lowest unemployment.
We’ll be cutting entitlements.
The Spaaace Fooorce!!!
What have you got to lose?
Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t.
Like a rocketship.
Even better.
Who knew?
W.H.O. blew it!
We pay $400,000,000.
Chinacentric!
They should have warned us sooner.
Not while I am President!
Not a dime!
We’ll be looking into it.
In a week or two.
See you tomorrow.
Biden apologized.
Sleepy Joe.
Called me xenophobic.
I don’t know what I said,
I don’t reeememmmber.
If they don’t treat you right, I don’t call.
But I didn’t say that.
A lot of equipment’s being asked for that I don’t think they’ll need.
I didn’t say that.
And within a couple of days is going to be down close to zero.
CHEENO!
It’s from CHINO.
They knew.
They should have told us sooner.

Ok, I realize it might seem petty, off topic and so far out as to be gone, chirrens, but I am stunned at the perpetual prevalence of erroneous spelling and grammar in these comments sections.
Let’s eat, Dad! OR Let’s eat Dad! haha
Grammar saves lives!!
A wee bit of levity brought to you by our very own dark assed Zeitgeist.

Lots….none….Goodness!!! Relax, sharky! DID I STUTTER? Was semi-jesting, kid!: More’s the point -education is where…it’s….at….!
Anyone out there delving more deeply than the daily, generically proffered pablum (not to be confused with pabulum)?Numbers aren’t adding up. READ THAT AGAIN.
And YES…it’s more than important that we hone our heads presently, mayhap more so than ever before! I suppose I shouldn’t equate grammar with intelligence. Rather rude.My sincere apologies.
PS. Intelligence is ever important. Where are we, if not striving towards knowledge and practical application of a collectively compassionate human race?

The jury is still out on the Oxford Comma.
The million dollar comma.
Or 5 million.
Or 10 million.
Personally, I find it crucial.

I’m really torn on this one. One the one hand that’s how I like to see a sentence, but on the other hand I’m ‘merican and I want to rebel against all British formalities and so it goes.
