Because of Concerns About the Coronavirus, Trinity County Food Bank Changing Distribution
Press release from the Trinity County Food Bank:
Because of the Corona virus the Trinity County food bank has taken some drastic safety measures to do our upmost to ensure the well being of all the citizens we serve.
We will be doing drive-through distributions throughout the county, and will be giving out April and May’s commodities, on the first week of April so there won’t be another commodities distribution until the first week of June so please use your food wisely.
We will provide further updates as to future delivery distribution dates.
Only one senior box will be given because we will not have enough on hand to distribute for both months.
Please be patient with us, we are trying our best to keep the citizens of Trinity County safe and prevent a widespread outbreak of the Corona virus.

I hope their volunteers will use gloves when unloading their cases of groceries and change them before packing the bags. Inside the cases should be clean it is the outside that has been exposed.
I hope that isolated seniors have access to other supplies to make up for the limited delivery. So far there seem to be enough kind people enough to plug the gaps.
I’ve been calling HHS in Trinity for an hour and a half ( they open at 8) to schedule a test and so far no one is answering.
How are you feeling today?
I’m symptom free now in my opinion. I coughed maybe 10 times yesterday. My fever broke over the weekend.
My understanding is if I get a test soon it still should show up.
But I’m highly suspect that I will be able to get a test, let alone a person in the HHS office.
Thanks for asking.
TRB,
Just tried calling both TCPH and MCH. No answer by either. Maybe a drive is in order? Take plenty of zinc and vitamin D3. Keep us posted. Regular (hopefully) cold going through our household now, but we are closely monitoring our symptoms (I’m in high risk category). Good luck Brian.
I finally reached someone who transferred me to someone else who I left a message for.
A drive by is over an hour trip each way for me. Can’t afford gambling.
Plus, I’m sure I’ll get something figured out over the phone at some point today.
I’m recording my experience on this.
There are some details I would like to talk about if I get a positive diagnosis.
Thank you BR, good luck to you and good luck to us all.
I called back, because I find a 2 hour meeting implausible.
I was now given the “in and out of meetings” spin.
I said, ” We have been waiting for a month to have tests available, and now that I’ve read they are, I dont want be ignored or blown off for 4 hours more.”
Response was standard, ” I assure you we aren’t blowing you off.”
(Then fucking get me a yes or no answer of if you have the tests or not!)
Brian, Humboldt *should* have the tests as they have a lab there that will process them. They might also know more than the Trinity people. Because they have the regional testing lab for Corona they may also be the regional distributors for the tests. Do us all a favor and wear gloves and pay with a credit card if you have to get gas?
Good luck, glad you’re feeling better, and thank you for the info on your experience trying to get a test.
First and last point of the experience so far is Trinity County HHS is absolutely worthless.
I did make a mistake by interpreting their press release as that they would have testing available.

That is not the case.
There is the Redding Rancheria Weaverville office or the Trinity Community Health Clinic.
I stuck it out with the TCHC.
I have an appointment tomorrow at 1:45
Unfortunately, results may take 10-12 days.
Making it almost useless to be tested at all.
My conversations with HHS were a frighteningly horrible situation.

It might be a good idea if those who can afford it can stock up on extra big bags of rice. Cash and Carry in Eureka has great deals.
If our distribution system has delays then some people may go hungry, especially away from population centers. I think I have enough for some neighbors if things go south. Others who have more money might be able to give the senior center some bags of rice. They serve as an informal place to go for some very hungry people. They also make deliveries through meals on wheels.
