It will be easier to access the transfer station without going down Broadway. But intersection tend to have a lot of crashes due to failing to yield, especially at night. It will allow a place to cross too. Good if it lessens the people cutting across.

Interestingly, it looks like Google and all prior references I can find show West Hawthorn[e] has an “e” at the end. But the sign on the photo shows that it doesn’t have one.

this with or without the “e” thing is shaping up to be the biggest street name controversy since Buhne/Boon/Booner/Byoon/Boonee…

Funny…I immediately thought of “Boona(r)” as well.

Kinda interesting the street names were unable to be mounted level and the fact only one street is named.

Official maps not matching reality is fairly common… and in some cases even the street signs change from block to block. I’m pretty sure (trying to recall; it’s not exactly something I’ve tried to pay attention to…) most of the Hawthorn(e) signs have no e, but there are a couple that do have an e.

As long as we’re hijacking this with power-related things, can you figure out why my attempts to give someone an analogy of how grid power flow works are vanishing from the wind farm thread? I’m assuming they’re getting eaten by a spam filter, but there’s no links, no companies, nothing even slightly spammy, and only minimal snark.

Oh heck, Kym, we can’t trust the authorities to on how place names appear. Just look at the publicly – produced and – installed signs at Myers Flat, I mean Meyers Flat! 😉

Or, “Field’s Landing,” for Fields Landing. When they put the first street signs up in Fieldbrook, they spelled Anker Lane, “Anchor Lane.”

I still see it spelled that way sometimes.

My only question is, are both signs hanging crooked on purpose, or was that just a double fuck-up?

whoever is printing the sign for Anker probably assumed someone couldn’t spell Anchor…

Is a street light planned for the new In-n-Out corner? Vigo and Broadway is about 2 blocks south.

Yes, I’ve heard there will be a light at Vigo and Broadway as well. I saw it in an article somewhere, but can’t remember which site.

Part of the same revision as the closure of Fairfield at Wabash and Broadway. Putting the Fairfield traffic on Hawthorn(e) relieves the long wait at Wabash/Broadway to accommodate the Fairfield traffic and the new light will be timed off of Broadway. Also, it makes traffic to the HWMA much simpler.

It will take a getting used to! I hope there won’t be an abnormal amount of accidents due to this new light.

I dunno on that light.

There is only 1 block between the new light and Wabash.
May jam up traffic… it’s gotta be a ‘quick change’ light.

———–

Then the new light goes in at ‘In-and-Out’ burger. We will see how that one works out.
City should have made new access street from West Henderson to In-and-Out.
Used that signal to service that new location.

– or –

They should buy out and remove the ‘Gold Rush’ coffee stand at West Henderson.
That 4 way signal serves only that business. That would remove some congestion.

It’s part of clearing the bottleneck caused by the old 5-way stop at Broadway, Wabash, and Fairfield.
