Screenshot from Max Preps of the game information
According to scanner traffic just after 8 p.m., someone received back injuries at the Branson vs South Fork High School Football game in Miranda. The two teams are in a playoff for the North Coast Section Football tournament.
An ambulance has been dispatched Code 3 (with lights and siren).
At this point we don’t know if this is an athlete or an audience member, an adult or a youth.
We’ll update when we learn more.
Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available. And please hold everyone who is dealing with this kindly in your thoughts.
UPDATE: We heard from a good source that the student athlete who was injured is expected to be okay. (Wahoo!)

I usually hear sirens; but have heard none. I sure hope this is a phantom injury.
They don’t have ambulances at High School Football games anymore ?
Bozo, they have well trained first responders at the games, Miranda Fire is at all home games. If they need to be transported, the Ambulance arrives in about 15 minutes, which is a rarity.
Bozo. They don’t have ambulances at games. But they do have Miranda fire volunteer EMT’s who probably called for the ambulance because they deemed it necessary.
I just talk to my son who is at the game , it is a player from South Fork and they think he might have broke his back
My heart is aching for his parents and for him.
?Hope the kid heals! Praying for you kido!
Prayers for him. Does anyone know what the score of the game is?
The player is Alex Harding .. he suffered injuries due to the opposing team face masking the young man. Please keep him in all our thoughts .. he is a wonderful young man an outstanding football player
Alex is in the hospital and doing fine. He can sit up and move his arms and legs
Wahoo!!! Thank you for letting us know!
Final score Branson 58 Cubs 40
Thank you for letting us know!
Very unusual if and it still is IF he in fact does have broken back. I played football starting in the sixth grade to HS and two years at a Junior college and never have I heard or been witness to a player breaking his back. I don’t know why, but for my past and I am only one person traveling life’s highway, past, I probably played in 50 or more games, And that is what I didn’t see. Hopefully, this person will have something lesser.
Bubba, back and neck injuries do happen now and then. Over the years I have read of a number of high school, college, and NFL players being hurt by having their face masked grabbed. When you are playing, and all wound up, a person tends to grab anything they can get their hands on. I would like to see clear plastic shields installed inside the mask to prevent unwanted fingers from getting a grip. They should be
easily removeable and replaced on the sidelines by the coach or trainer. The Branson player should have been ejected from the game, if he was not. I hope the coach and school will give him some type of punishment for his actions. It is lucky Alex can use his arms and legs after that injury. Much worse sure could have happened to him, making him unable to walk or ever use his arms and legs again.
Get well soon Alex. If a player from Branson grabbed your face mask I hope they are severely punished for that uncalled for act. You fellas fought hard and I am very proud of you and all your team mates.
