[UPDATE 12:24 a.m.] Vehicle on Fire After Crash on Old Arcata Road

Vehicle fire featureA sedan reportedly crashed into a ditch on Old Arcata Road near the Baysiide Cutoff a little after 11 p.m., according to the scanner. The vehicle is fully engulfed and spreading to the surrounding vegetation, the Incident Commander confirmed over the scanner after he arrived on scene.

“Some of the brush is catching fire,” the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page states.

The dispatcher relayed information from the accident scene over the radio that indicates that the occupant is out of the vehicle. However, an ambulance is responding.

UPDATE 11:30 p.m.: Myrtle is shut down while firefighters put out the flames, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. The CHP site reports that no one was injured in the accident.

UPDATE 12:02 a.m.: At 11:50, the CHP page indicated that the roadway would reopen about midnight.

UPDATE 12:24 a.m.: The roadway is now open, according to the CHP page.
