~is it pill poppers? Is it meth? Is it alcohol? Is it “mental illness”? Is it texting while behind the wheel? Is it stoned? No, stoners are moving along at snail’s pace.

It’s dumb shits. I MEAN, there’s two pedals and a steering wheel. Doesn’t take a rocket surgeon.

Wait, i have another thought. The ones behind the wheel know each other, live on the next block, and arrange to crunch for insurance pay-off because they can’t pay their premium.

Smittyrivers,

~talk about judgmental! My comment was meant as a joke.

I was just saving all the banter and speculation -rolling them into one, DUH.

The real odd sense of humor is to be preferred. It makes a person aware of the inherent irony of slathering judgement on another commenter’s posts by complaining that they are judgemental.

That’s exactly how to tell if a transmission is good or bad….

Two pedals it’s bad,

And three pedals it’s good.

~yep, that’s been my experience. If a three pedal truck or car won’t start, it’s pretty easy to push it (depending on weight, if there’s a guy around to help, or you parked on a slight hill), and pop the clutch.

Also a three pedal vehicle is less likely to be stolen, as kids these days don’t know anything and therefore will have no grasp of the three pedal concept.

~Excellent point! , Y Knot?

Uh, oh. I have an auto trans. right now. AND, the trunk is leaking -somewhere. Wait. Another epiphany! sorta. After this climate control Pacific Northwest winter drippings of acid rain, i’ll hose it around the seals.
Thanks Y Knot?

Maybe in Eureka traffic, three pedals might be good, but when traveling out of town in stop and go rush hour traffic, three pedals are really, really bad.

Central,
an increase in crashes seems to coincide with approximate time mj became legal in California.

Maybe more drivers use mj than before it was legal; not realizing that it is illegal to drive high, because it can impair driving ability just as much as alcohol can.

Thanks for the comment.

Alcohol wins by a mile, but impaired driving is not cool, whatever the cause. Now that it’s legal, why not do your own home (not driving) coordination tests? There is no staggering and inability to function with weed. Not recommending it, just the facts are obvious,

We never had so many device distractions either or crappy attitudes. But enjoy yourself.

I don’t often agree with you CENTHUM, but I’ve been alarmed by how awful people seem to be driving these days. The failure to stop at red lights is increasing, and when I let someone know that they did that, I receive a less than warm response. I’m flummoxed.

~the ideas i stand for are not mine. I borrowed them from Socrates. I swiped them from Jefferson. I stole them from Jesus. If you don’t like their rules, whose would you use?

The DMV handbook states distracted driving is the #1 culprit.
