[UPDATE: Located] Missing Man May Have Been En Route From Willow Creek to Eureka Saturday Morning

32-year-old Elijah Howell was last seen in Garberville at 4 p.m. on Friday, according to his wife. He dropped off his dog for a weekend visit with Juanita Howell, his wife, though they are no longer living together.

Juanita said he told her that he was going to a party in Willow Creek and then afterwards he would drive home to Eureka where he was expecting a visit from his parents at noon on Saturday.

“He seemed excited,” she said.

At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, he contacted an ex-girlfriend by text with a simple message. He hasn’t been in contact with anyone since.

According to his missing person’s poster, “The names of the persons having the party are unknown. Numerous calls and text to his phone have been unanswered.” His phone goes straight to voicemail.

I sure hope you never need any help from the Sheriff’s Department. I think they are doing a damn fine job considering the size of our county, and only a few officer’s to patrol it. I also pray that the missing man will be found safe and sound.

Myself in this situation would find a driver and a walker. One to drive between pull outs and another to walk between the pull outs. That is how they found my friend and his companions. It was a stormy night and Elijah may have driven off the road. Don’t wait any longer. Plan to do this while the weather is dry.

299 from Willow Creek to the coast was a very dangerous drive on Saturday morning. I believe Liz’s idea is a rational way to look for this guy.
