[UPDATE 12:11 a.m.] Home Invasion in the Island Mountain Area

Home Invasion

[Public domain via Wiki Commons]

A man and his daughter who is in her twenties are reported to be injured after a home invasion near Island Mountain that occurred around 9 p.m. The male victim was reportedly hit multiple times on the head and may have serious injuries. The female victim is reportedly less injured.

The two suspects, Hispanic males, reportedly fled in their own vehicle, a blue Honda SUV, and in the victim’s white 4-door GMC Denali, according to a person who spoke with the victims.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 10:13 p.m.: 101 is completely shutdown near 101 and the Irvine rest stop north south of Laytonville. A suspect vehicle is pulled over. From the scanner, it appears that Onstar may have disabled the accelerator. The suspect is refusing to exit the vehicle.

UPDATE 10:17 p.m.: “It’s turning into a SWAT operation,” the dispatcher stated over the scanner. Humboldt Sheriff’s deputies reportedly told Mendocino deputies via dispatchers that the suspects stole firearms.

UPDATE 10:21 p.m.: The suspect pressed down on the car horn for a time. The deputy on the scene reported over the radio that he doesn’t know why. “It appears the subject is trying to get the vehicle to start,” the deputy said. In the background could be heard the ignition trying to turn over.

UPDATE 10:22 p.m.: “The suspect is holding up a large shiny object,” the deputy said. “I’m not sure what it is.”

UPDATE 10:52 p.m.:
One of the officers asks for a negotiator that speaks Spanish.

UPDATE 10:58 p.m.: MendocinoSportsPlus has a detailed account of what led up to the suspect vehicle being stopped on his Facebook page.

UPDATE 11:05 p.m.: The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office just broadcast a BOLO over the scanner. It said that the incident occurred about 8:35 p.m. and the suspects stole cash, marijuana, and six firearms.

UPDATE 12:11 a.m.: The suspect in the Denali is in custody.

If the law is treated with contempt- as in voting for a stupid county sanctuary proposition and condoning- no glorifying- a hyper active black market – why should any other result be expected? It’s hard to maintain “sensitivity” to the victims of the repeated spread of lawlessness so created. The response of taking justice into your own hands is just one more racheting notch in the process. Getting angry at hearing another round of “I told you so”s apparently is not going to change where this is all headed.

So what is your solution? I hate that people are getting hurt and want it stopped. A climate of lawlessness with its accompanying violence to the populace, once it reaches a certain point, seem inevitable.

And this is why the prohibition of alcohol was ended. The civil costs became just too great.

Booze was still relatively easy to get because a thriving criminal industry provided it. If there are willing customers with cash in hand an industry will spring up to provide the desired product laws or not.

I personally knew two people that were murdered for pot because it was worth lots of cash. One of whom was a teenager my wife had taught as a kid. And these are just the ones I knew personally.

Legalization had to happen, the carnage has grown too great as has the public’s desire to use the stuff without fear of the law.

Complaining will get folks nowhere, use your energy to adapt and survive. The community needs you.

There’s no tax on medicine, right?

Taxing profit is akin to taxing success.

“Every man is independent of all laws, except those prescribed by nature. He is not bound by any institutions formed by his fellowmen without his consent.”

The masses at large will likely complain about the solutions… “Where are the solutions?” they will say….even though the vast majority do not even get the problem in the first place.

We either restore local government. Or submit to wor(l)d governance. The idea that the solution is more government, more regulation, more debt, and less risk is dangerously absurd.

Every right that is given up (waived) to imprison another, is one less that the whole has. That’s where we get the phrase “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”

I don’t understand your point.
To my understanding, Meds are double taxed by the tax payers, but tax free for the companies.
The tax payers money is used to pay for the subsidies. The companies are subsidized by tax funds. The tax payer then pays the sales tax to the state who legislated the tax subsidies and sales taxes. The tax payers pay double.

Ayn Rand was a trooper against monopolies. She promoted prosperity over poverty.
She, however, failed to articulate to the dumbed down the concept of prosperity with moral conduct. Instead, she felt it was more important to let each person learn the hard way. Most still don’t understand the concept and continue putting blame on everyone but themselves. A few of her quotes clue us in though.
“Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life, and that happiness, not pain or mindless self-indulgence, is the proof of your moral integrity, since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values. – Ayn Rand

IOW, prosperity, with a moral compass, is not self indulgent. It’s impossible to be self indulgent when you are creating jobs, building hospital wings, libraries, fund raisers for emergencies, and just overall good leadership qualities that inspires others to do better, be better.
That’s what good leaders do.
A bad leader blames you for everyone’s woes and hits you up for more labor and money.
There are millionaires, billionaires, trillionaires and even a quadrillionaire. Yet, we never hear complaints about that quadrillionaire. That quadrillionare is cleverly paying for the smear campaigns against the millionaires, who refused to sell out to the monopoly.
Ayn Rand hated monopoly.

“The Great Depression helped lead to the end of prohibition because it promised jobs by legalizing the manufacture, distribution and sale of alcohol. Prohibition ended in the United States on December 5th, 1933 when the 21st Amendment was passed. This day is referred to as Repeal Day.” https://www.bing.com/search?q=why+was+prohibition+ended&PC=U316&FORM=CHROMN

It’s a satisfactory story that Prohibition ended because the citizens took control back from government regulators. Or in this case it caused too much violence. At least that’s the idea that Hollywood pictured.

In truth, it was was partially people’s love of their vices but it was mostly -like Bill Clinton’s campaign advisor put it- “The economy, stupid.” FDR won election based on the promise to end Prohibition and save the economy from the Depression.

It will stop when we form our own militia, with road stops and ID checks. Since it is private, we can pull their ass out of their rigs to check them. And why let them in?[edit] Every village, especially along 101, should be protected from these thieves. How many home invasions occur in wine country? Those winery owners have big bucks. Do they get invaded like here? Have village training for invasions, even have drills. It will only take a few punks blown away, and this problem should slow down. or, you can be killed, or severely hurt, and call the sheriff, who is an hour away. The govt is not the answer, private security and lead is. There are private security firms all all over the place, who patrol and can arrest. Just deduct their fee from your property taxes.

So hum family- yeah right. You permitted paper-pusher compliant obeyers don’t scare anybody. Your threat of “they’re lucky WE didn’t catch them” holds no weight because it’s obvious you have all given up your local pride. If you hurt a thief you might lose your permit and it is very important for you to be very compliant. If you really had the old gusto you would have had a plan in place and you would have stopped the getaway vehicles. But you did not. Maybe you all were busy filing paperwork for your compliance officers? So you could blow up another permitted mega-grow, hiring potential thieves for minimum pay and then flood the underground market while your county protection looks the other way. It’s hard to respect the compliant and permitted paperwork jockeys when they make statements like yours. We all know you have capitulated and surrendered your outlaw creed to the county and state.

[edit]… If the Farm is legal we should not even be talking “pot”…. Who cares! The fact is these were armed robbers who were robbing our legal farmers. It does not matter if they were robbing lettuce farmers or cannabis farmers; both crops are legal and protected by the law! Time for people to adjust the psyches and perceptions to the current year 2019. It is not 1997 any more. Cannabis is legal, Cannabis farmers are a very important part of our local community and economy. The trickle down economics from our cannabis farms keeps our small family operated shops and stores in business. These legal cannabis farms are funding and sponsoring our childrens sports teams and Little League teams. The money from cannabis buys school clothes, pays for college educations, puts safe tires on our communities vehicles. Without cannabis Southern Humboldt and Northern Mendocino would be in devastating poverty which would hurt our local families. Everyone knows that poverty leads to higher crime rates, more home invasions, more robberies as well as more violence and domestic violence in poverty stricken families. Lets support our local cannabis farmers and cannabis industry. Who cares if a victim grows Fir trees or pot trees, they are our neighbors and community and as a community we should all stick together and say enough is enough to this discrimination and hatred!!

The “permitted” mega grows brought it upon themselves. Those people who came here and blew it up with large flats filled with greenhouses were not wanted. The locals who followed suit are in the same boat. The fact that the majority of “permitted” grows are selling on the black market while they curse their black market counterparts is what disgusts Farce as well as many other people. The fact that law enforcement has admittedly said they are going after black market grows because they are competition for the “legal” market also disgusts people. The fact of the matter is, if you are selling pot on the black market, permitted or not, you are breaking the law. The fact law enforcement is protecting these “permitted” farms instead of enforcing the law is disgusting. This whole thing is a disgusting mess which is why pot should’ve never been legalized in the first place and why law enforcement should’ve been actually busting grows for the past 20 years.

The “Sanctuary County” ballot, was as superfluous as Meas. Z & O balloting. -Did anybody notice that there were no ‘elections’ in November – just misinformation for the willingly uninformed?

The Tenth Article in the Bill of Rights protects State’s rights – not City/County – it’s simply not within their subject matter jurisdiction. I MEAN, how in H are the Order Followers going to enforce such nonsense in only unincorporated areas? It’s at the Appellate level now, with a decision coming after the first of the year. Then Supreme Court bound. If Californians pushed an initiative for a State-wide vote that would have made sense. The fantasy of immigration being decided at a local level is fodder for fools.

No by the reported request by the police for a Spanish speaking translator. That certainly increases the odds in favor of a criminal being illegal. It indicates not native born and criminality indicates not legal. It doesn’t mean that for a certainty but you’d go broke betting against it.

If immigration or illegality was reliably made public, it would end debate.

No surprise here. Many legal farms have websites that detail their exact location, and post things on Instagram that show every detail of their farm, from seed to harvest. No longer do crooks have to guess which dirt road to drive down and which address to try to hit. The guesswork is gone, the “legal” growers basically case their own grows for the crooks. All a thief has to do is type the address into Google earth and wait for the grower to post pics of their harvest on instagram to know when to hit. This type of thing will become more common than ever before.

This County was founded by Genocide and Murderers;
Still some shootings and murders in Humboldt and Island Mountain area, but way less than in the 1860’s where entire villages were decimated by white men on horses carrying rifles and pistols. Taken from;
Sacramento Daily Union, Volume 19, Number 2823, 13 April 1860
A correspondent of the Bulletin, writing from Eureka, March 31st, has the following ;

An expedition was taken by Captain Wright’s Command, a few days since, to South Eel river, which was reached after a most fatiguing march. A rancheria of Indians was discovered on the opposite bank of the river, and it being quite high, and no boats at hand, it was impossible to cross; so the company had to return home, but not, however, until about twenty rifles were tired into a canoe, laden with squaws and children, several of whom were killed. It is said that this was done contrary to Captain Wright’s orders, and one man was so disgusted that he pronounced all base cowards that had shot at the canoe. We also learn that a couple of ” bucks” were taken prisoners, also a couple of nice young squaws, while harmlessly engaged in nicking clover, which they were eating as a salad. They were taken into camp, and after having been under guard twenty-lour hours, the ‘* bucks” were taken out, tied to a tree, and shot in cold blood. We are informed that there was but one man in Captain Wright’s company who was cowardly enough to shoot the two bucks— who had been guilty pf nothing bi*t picking clover. The nice young squaws will be reserved for future disposition. So I learn by the gentleman from Eel river. The same party states that the oung man who has been telling all he knew about the late massacres has been sent into the Yager Hills, until the storm shall have blown over. From :https://cdnc.ucr.edu/cgi-bin/cdnc?a=d&d=SDU18600413.2.8&e=——-en–20–1–txt-txIN-Boat+wreck+-eel+river——1

UpCartel Human Smuggling of Mexican Workers into Humboldt County to trim pot for $50 per pound is not only destroying the work base for the people of Humboldt but it is also causing all sorts of crimes like home invasions and murders. People need to step up and turn these human smuggling operations in to the law. How long will we allow our work to be taken away from our local families and handed over to gangs who operate human smuggling operations and then rip off or kill their workers and keep the money. Attention Humboldt County Growers, if you are hiring Cartel and Human Smuggling organizations to trim your pot you will be searched out, hunted down and turned in by the citizens of Humboldt. We will no longer accept Human Smuggling Operations to trim Humboldt Counties pot. Hire a local, hire a family, but do not hire these groups of Mexicans who are hired by the Cartel and not properly treated or payed who are sometimes murdered by the cartel ….. Lets shine a light on this topic!!

This has been going on in a big way since Clinton cracked down on pot brought over the border. . . in about ’94. It was easier to bring in the people who had been growing for generations in their high mountain communities. At the same time NAFTA collapsed the price of corn for those farmers and took out the agricultural folk economy of Mexico. So they shipped people and methods and materials up here and took over the sites of the hippie “guerrilla grows” on public land. Some of the old guerrilla growers stopped growing on public land and others sold information and cooperated with the “cartels” taking in supplies and serving as scouts. After the Public Land thing became too much of a hassle (mostly) the Mexicans bought land here with the profits and started competing with “us” in a new way. I knew people in 2012 who were hiring the Mexican trim crews because they could get the work done for half the price. As in other California agriculture, the Mexican participants are part of the community but we like to pretend otherwise when something goes wrong or they work against our personal interests.

Oh, and those chemicals that are illegal here that those “ignorant” folk are importing into our country, you can look it up; they’re made in this country and shipped to Mexico.

Fascist corporate/MIC government, a gift that keeps taking…til there are no jobs, healthcare, education, or a peaceful place for citizens or those fleeing death squads. But let’s blame the poor refugees..That’s just..heartless, misguided and pitiful.

I wonder if these are illegals working for the Southern Humboldt Human Smuggling trim crews… You know the “mexicans” who are driven up to Humboldt by white coyotes 25 at a time to trim pot for $75 -80 per pound, then the farmers pay 125 to 150 pp to their coyote who keeps 25-50% of the proceeds x 25 people. The Mexicans are kept on the hill to work and supplied by drivers who make supply runs in town…. This is happening all across Humboldt County and Mendocino, illegals taking the jobs of white trimmers and knockimg down the trim pay to under $100 per pound. This is one reason why our local shops are closing: trim machines and illegal mexican trimmers who will work for less pay and will work in servitude untill the Gang and Coyotes who smuggled them in are paid back. Humboldt County Sheriff needs to dig deeper in this situation and find out how these guys arrived, chances are pretty great that these guys were illegal aliens hired by their coyote who contract trims the crop taking nearly half the workers proceeds. This is how the gangs are funding themselves, human smuggling and indentured servitude. This is why so many people end up missing, the gangs will work them to death then shoot the vixtims and keep their salaries.

Do you have any, I mean any, proof that illegal immigrants are being shot by law evading employers? From these stories it seems that it’s the illegals doing the violence.

The only time I heard of this happening is when that pot grower shot at his employees, both immigrant and native born. He’s in prison now.

Its not “law abiding citizens” doing the hiring of illegals, the Farmers “Contract out the Trimming” to Mexican “buyers” who are actually gang affiliated, The Gangs then hire their Human smuggling clients to pay for their trip across the border. This is called indentured servitude, the illegal workers must then pay the coyote gangs back, they work in the pot farms for 50% of pay and the “organization” keeps the other 50%…. Times this by multiple groups of 25 trimmers each and there is potential for organizations to make several thousand dollars per day times 30 days a month = hume profits. The problem is these organizations rip off the illegal trimmers or kill them and then the illegal trimmers go after the farmers where they worked as only recourse. 50 year resident and I know exactly what I am talking about just like anyone else around here on the in, who knows what is really taking place, Surenos and Nortenos along with United Farmworkers trim groups are making a killing… Literally

Yep. And Asian. There have also been news reports of people being kidnapped and made to work trimming, harvesting etc.

….and woofers….

It really kills me when people brag about how little they pay. Maybe it kills them too. Not saying these people- I don’t know a thing about them.

I remember a guy shooting his workers at the end of the season. He didn’t pay them. Instead he shot them – somewhere by the Kneeland airport.

Yeah and that boy is white by all appearances. People concerned with human rights should be careful when making sweeping conjectures about ethnic groups. No way all illegals are working for gangs. No way all gangs are working illegals.

One of my sons-in law, daughter, and hence, two of my granddaughter’s last name is Hernandez.

illegal alien -words to leave behind. I don’t refer to BUMs (Bar Union Members) as alien. However, if any persons are unlawful aliens on American soil, it’s the bottom-feeder cult of lawyers.

He did Not shoot them at the end of the season. They wanted to quit with what they had earned to date because he was not providing food. Instead he shot.

Everything we want is downstream. You guys obviously can see and know what has happened, and/or still is happening, and know it must stop – one way or the other.

It’s kind of scary that our cars can be controlled remotely now. People should take a clue from the heroin and meth dealers, don’t keep your money with your product and don’t keep either of them in your house. Pretty easy…

Mexican illegals are doing agricultural labor and are being brought across the border by contractors who are profiting from exploiting them? Grow up, whiners. This is a sign that Cannabis is becoming normalized, like any crop harvested by Mexicans in the Central Valley, where exploited work crews are how it’s done. Work on getting Social Justice for Mexican workers, not on whining about how “Illegals are taking the jobs of white trimmers.”

The only social justice for illegals should be deportation.

Uhmmm…. there are plenty of White people making less than minimum wage right now. It has nothing to do with race. They will fck anyone over.

I’ve always been far left, but when we can’t take care of our own people, regardless of race, then maybe we should tighten the borders. Give DACA and PACA real citizenship- not some fake second class status, and severely limit new arrivals.

But we need un-documented labor. They can’t complain and have no rights. That’s why we want them. The bill of rights does not apply to them. Nor does OSHA. Slaves. Keeps the working class on their toes.

Right? I am so sick of people creating second classes for their own monetary benefit and cheating labor while pretending to be the heros of civil rights.

When a dog/child/partner does something right they get a cookie. When they do something wrong they get a reprimand. Law enforcement is an unenviable job for sure but I think they’re tuff enuff to handle criticism now and then. A world without it can be summed up in one word that ironically rhymes with masochism.

Not to mention if this was a legal grow it should not be conflated with a raided illegal grow. Wherever u fall on that debate you’ll land on the cops doing they’re jobs.

I kind of like the idea of everybody living by the same rules.. IF someone knocks at your door, you open that door-one of two things happen at that point.. 1/ you ask who they are and what they want ( politely, probably.. not as cut and dried as i state it,,) or 2. they barge into your house, shove you aside, eat your food, make themselves at home on your couch, take over your cell phone, tv, radio,,whatever..Take your money for whatever they want, and expect you to leave and find yourself somewhere else to live. If you dont–you are racist, insensitive, greedy, right-wing–take your pick..
Even though our history is one of welcoming people from other countries, even when people were arriving legally via Ellis Island–they were documented given medical exams ( and denied entry if they were sick or contagious ), questioned, photographed, –I’m a nice person..and i assume you are too.. but i’m not stupid. I am a rule follower–i like the concept.. If there is a rule i follow it..so should everyone else–level playing field… how can this notion be bad? If a rule is bad..we can vote for different leaders, etc..
