At approximately 10 p.m., a Fortuna Police officer reported following a vehicle on northbound 101 that was failing to maintain its lane. The vehicle did not respond to an attempted traffic stop and sped off at 90 mph. The vehicle exited at Singley Hill and turned onto Waddington Road. The officer called for a spike strip.
“The vehicle is attempting to shake items out of the back at me. Nothing’s come out yet,” reported the officer.
The pursuit was at Waddington and Grizzley Bluff area, according to the officer over the scanner at 10:07 p.m.
Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.
UPDATE 10:15 p.m.: The vehicle left the roadway and went into a field. Officers are now searching the area. The first officer describes the vehicle as black Toyota extended cab with something like a roll bar and a dangling license plate light. He says there might be front end damage “from going through a gate.”
UPDATE 10:44 p.m.: Two officers have located the tracks of the Toyota and are attempting to follow them on foot.
UPDATE 11:06 p.m.: The officers are returning without finding their suspect.

If a Toyota truck goes off road, nothing can catch it except another Toyota truck! Yay Toyota, boo for the asshat running from the law.
Cheers to that man. The dukes of Humboldt ride again.
More like drunken assholes of Humboldt, AGAIN!
I don’t know about a Toyota truck but I do know that I am glad that the police tried to catch him. They are only doing their job and I am happy that they are out there. Kudos to the cops.
Question the Benny Hill music!
Why is FPD patrolling 101?
I’m not sure what the start of the incident was. I thought I heard something about an off-duty officer but I could be wrong.
FPD are a bunch of chumps who only investigate for personal gain. That’s why they conveniently never seem to “locate the suspect”
Who is going to pay for the ten fences he drove through? Fortuna police?
Meanwhile the semi loaded with weed drove on south down 101 free and clear, just like Smokey and the Bandit.
I want all you anti police assholes to remember one thing, when you need them don’t call them, you don’t deserve there assistance!
