The hospitalizations include “two residents in their 60s, three in their 70s and one aged 80 and older.”

“Many of our hospitals across the state are reaching capacity, if they aren’t there already, and one of the ways we can reduce admissions is by treating individuals who have COVID-19…Unlike previous years, people now have safe and effective treatment options that can prevent serious disease, reduce hospitalization, and may also lower the risk of long COVID-19 symptoms.

“Respiratory infections are spreading quickly now and could continue throughout the winter. I urge everyone six months of age and older to get vaccinated against flu and COVID-19 as soon as possible,” said State Public Health Officer and CDPH Director, Dr. Tomás Aragón.
