As a stream of supportive honks from passing vehicles sounded in the background, a striking Cal Poly Humboldt maintenance worker on the curb outside of the University marketplace, Jeff Robinson, explained that he and the other Teamsters members were reluctantly picketing in the rain, when they would prefer to be working and getting things done on campus. 

The rally-goers held hand-made signs decrying the month-long siege, some leveling accusations of genocide, and others promoting the Boycott, Divest, Sanctions movement (BDS), as they marched around the Plaza amongst small farmers and their produce booths.

It was part of a prayer chain against abortion that took place in 378 cities and towns across 40 different states.

According to the LA Times, in December 1994, a female LAPD officer reported a 1992 assault by the candidate who was then a police officer, resulting in a fractured neck, leading to a restraining order and a 25-day suspension.

“Concerns from students, faculty, and some community partners prompted us to re-evaluate some elements of the application process and make changes where we could to make the transition less stressful for students.”

“I just want to get on with my life,” said one student who has been waiting for two years already, and expected to be admitted to the program this year based on their number on the list. She has learned that now she’ll  have to wait another year or two… .”
