Red light volations on H St. = automatic $489 fine.

Maybe a bigger fine, say $1,000 dollars would wake these idiots up, and if they are intoxicated take away their driver’s license. It is not much, but is better than $489.

Fines and license removal won’t change people’s habits it’ll just make them worse off and a bigger problem for the community. It’ll just cause them to go impoverished and lose stability in their lives. People seem to forget that people need a driver’s license in order to have a chance of getting a good job or making a living. Especially nowadays as employment opportunities seem to be shifting to be more gig/contract based (doordash, delivery services, etc). Even Dominos requires their employees to use their own cars to deliver pizzas.

What needs to be done is stricter requirements to get a license. Require schools to teach driver safety classes and make the physical and written license tests harder to pass.

I wonder how this would have gone down if there’d been a traffic circle there instead of lights?
