On May 18th, 2026, Officers with the Eureka Police Department conducted a Shoulder Tap and Minor Decoy operation within the city limits of Eureka. A total of 20 businesses were contacted during the operation, and no violations were observed.

The Eureka Police Department appreciates the diligence demonstrated by local businesses and their employees in checking identification and refusing sales to minors. EPD encourages all businesses and clerks to continue consistently verifying identification and complying with laws related to the sale of alcohol and tobacco products to help keep these products out of the hands of underage individuals and maintain the safety and well-being of the community.

Funding for this operation was provided by California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control as part of ABC’s ongoing efforts to reduce youth access to alcohol and increase compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors.
