Splashes, Spectacle, and Strange Machines: Sunday’s Kinetic Race Crosses Humboldt Bay
Sunday’s leg of the Kinetic Grand Championship carried racers from the water crossings beneath the Samoa Bridge back onto the road, where elaborate sculptures rolled, splashed, stalled, and surged forward trying to make it to today’s finish line. As always, the race balanced engineering ambition with a healthy dash of absurdity. It was part endurance event, part parade, and part community reunion.

Here’s how I know you’re not much of an artist if you’re lead off is that it’s a waste of talent? Who’s talent are you trying to judge against anyway? There is no “bad” art, only bad and biased interpretation of it. You now, beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
Also, I have photos of every single “silly” entry that isn’t on any web page if you’d like to see and several friends are race officials. I’d post them for you but I can only do a few.
