[Update] Vehicle Fire Reported on Northbound 101 Near Fortuna

A vehicle fire broke out on northbound Highway 101 near the 12th Street Fortuna exit Friday afternoon, according to Humboldt County scanner traffic.

The fire was reported around 12:03 p.m. A fire unit was dispatched and arrived on scene by 12:10 p.m. Scanner traffic indicated the vehicle was fully involved. The occupant had exited the vehicle safely prior to crews arriving, according to dispatch logs. The vehicle was reported out of the roadway.

Motorists in the area should use caution when traveling through the area.

Update 12:37 p.m.: The 12th Street onramp was briefly closed before fire personnel announced that the fire had been extinguished and the onramp could be reopened.
