Crabby Mothers Hope You Didn’t Forget Their Special Day

The Crabpot Family of Trinidad has donned its Sunday best once again—this time in honor of Mother’s Day, proving that even crab pots know better than to forget Mom.
Decked out in floral dresses, fancy hats, and enough springtime flair to populate a church brunch, the beloved trio at the corner of East Street and Ocean is celebrating mothers in proper coastal fashion. One appears ready to supervise everyone’s life choices, another looks prepared to hand out potato salad and unsolicited advice, and the third has the unmistakable expression of a mom who already asked twice where you left your jacket.
Ted Pease shared the photo, writing, “CRABBY MOTHERS! The famous Crabpot Family all dressed up in their Mothers Day finery to celebrate Mom this Sunday.” He credited Dorothy Cox and Mary Kline with helping keep the crabby clan dressed for holidays throughout the year.
The whimsical figures—crafted from repurposed crab pots and fishing gear—have become one of Trinidad’s more charming traditions. And after last summer’s scandalous wardrobe disappearance left the poor family temporarily streaking through the seasons, it’s nice to see the closet fully restored.
A tip of the sunhat to all the moms out there—the ones who patched scrapes, packed lunches, gave second chances, worried constantly, and somehow kept the whole family contraption moving forward even if sometimes they get a bit crabby.

When mom got crabby, dad suddenly had ‘work stuff’ in the garage.
Smart dad!
Mine’s long gone, so Happy Mother’s Day to you, Kym! I really hope it’s a good one.
Happy Mother’s Day All Other Mothers. It’s the best gig in the Universe. Children are blessings.
