Hope she is OK, but at 6’1 180 lbs sounds like she can take care of herself, and she has her skateboard.

With the police I have met in northern California, she is on her own. Not sure what the rate of missing people is in del Norte, but humboldt it is 717 per 100,000 per year. The highest in the nation. Not very surprising if you have read the history of humboldt county settlers.

You guys worry more about Donald Trump, ice, and Palestine then missing teenagers. And sadly it’s true.

You aren’t Poking The Bear, that would at least be brave. You just engage in self aggrandizement. Knock it off.

Where are you getting that stat?

You’re suggesting that somewhere around 900-1000 people go missing in Humboldt every year?

Why is the CHP involved in this sort of thing? Isnt their mandate highway and traffic safety and laws? Why the mission creep into other areas of policing?

The alert was activated by the CHP to help the Crescent City Police Department. Many times, the CHP helps with locating missing people, used in SAR, etc. After all they are law enforcement officer’s whether you like them or not.

Feather Alerts, like Amber Alerts, are put out by the CHP. Police or Sheriff can only force an alert in their jurisdiction, but the CHP alerts are broadcast across the state.

Despite the name the Patrol is really our state police agency. There is no mission creep here. They’re here to protect and serve. Writing speeding tickets is more of a way to pass the time and gather revenue in between the important jobs. Personally I can’t think of many things I’d like my tax money spent on than locating a missing and possibly at-risk youth.

She needs to get out of Del Norte County and be with enlightened folks. CalPoly Humboldt would be a good place where she will meet other creative, aware Native Americans. I pray she’s headed that way!

You’re saying that a 16 year old needs to be away from her family and her highschool, and be at a college?

It’s interesting that you automatically assumed my handle refers to coffee when Java can refer to so many things… Maybe you’re the one who should gain some enlightenment…

Yes.

Hopefully this youth will be located as soon as possible, returns home safely, and/or makes contact with those that are trying to make sure she is ok…
