The Cowtown Sound Performing at Art Alive on May 2nd
This is a press release from the Humboldt Arts Council:
Join the Humboldt Arts Council in the Morris Graves Museum of Art for Arts Alive, featuring music by The Cowtown Sound! Enjoy some toe-tapping honky-tonk music with an unusual instrumentation that features cello and singing saw, led by the baritone voice of Humboldt County songster Daniel Nickerson.
The Cowtown Sound is a group of friends who enjoy playing music together, mixing old-time tunes and originals. They describe their sound as “slinky country, bar-room jazz, and home-brew folk”. We play this type of music to be a part of the tradition of “social music” – music for picnics, potlucks, bars, breweries, markets, weddings, etc. Also, the band often incorporates marionette puppets into their performances, and have a whole host of Cowtown characters and stories that they perform in the form of puppet shows.
Band members include Daniel Nickerson (he/him) on guitar and vocals, Tayloranne Finch (she/her) on the singing saw, Cyrus Smith (he/him) on bass, Jesse All (he/him) on cello, Julio Perdido (they/them) on percussion.
This is sure to be a fun show you won’t want to miss, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!
